Cheap and cheerful pots/ tubs/ trough?

Hi all!
I'm in the process of adding colour and plants to the OH's place, problem is we're only there every other week for work (poor plants!)
Does anyone know of anywhere that are selling super SUPER cheap pots, tubs, oblong trough type things, grow bags?
It's mostly decking (death trap:rotfl:, needs cleaning and treating) and doesn't get a great deal of sun so plant suggestions are welcome, preferable fruit/ veg/ salad plants (already got herbs, strawberries and toms in the sunny spots!)

Try your local tip. They might have a shop, where they reclaim and sell pots. I got some large planters from my 85 year old neighbour who had picked them up for about 50p each, shop price £8. She gave me some other pots too. The plastic has faded, but for growing chillis, tomatoes etc, they are fine. But I don't recommend chillis and tomatoes as they will die in summer if not watered almost daily in hot weather.Warning: This forum may contain nuts.0

You can use anything for potting, even tin cans, as long as it can hold something, use it!I Believe in saving money!!!:T

Poundland has some in for £1, if you have a poundland close that is. You can also ask at your local supermarket for some, they give away or ask for very little for the small black plastic tubs they show they're flowers in. Im not too sure if they still do it though, HTH0

Have you tried your local freecycle ? If none offered sometimes it's worth a "wanted".
It's a pity you're not nearer we've loads of odds and our lottie has a pot bin that's overflowing with both large and small all shapes and sizes

Definitely pound shops - they're great. Mind you, if you want those with a water reservoir in which will mean they can be left for longer in the summer, Aldi had some in the other day.0

This year i've used Bags for Life from the supermarket, not the plastic carrier bags, but the next ones up (hope that makes sense????).
i've just poked a few holes in the bottom & they've been great for both veg & larger bush type plants & i can move them round if they need shelter or i want to chase after the little bit of sun that we've had!!
So much cheaper than pots & i think the summery design looks quite pretty too...February NSD challenge 5/150 -
Wilinson's and Poundland have green plastic planting bags in various sizes. I have planted one, which wasn't the largest, that held more than 20 litres of compost. Wilkinson ones were 2 per pack but not sure of pricebut definitely much cheaper than pots and don't look bad at all.'Yaze whit yeh hive an ye'll niver wahnt'

I'd second this - our local even had one of those large stone font-type tings offered, and some massive glazed pots by someone else - wish we had a van!
It's really worth putting up a "wanted" - we don't always advertise stuff as there is an element of people just saying "I'll have that" for the sake of it, but if someone wants something we'll see what we can sort out for them as we know they genuinely need/have thought about itYou never know how far-reaching something good, that you may do or say today, may affect the lives of others tomorrow0 -
I've got a couple of those bright orange buckets from B&Q, under £1 and they've got a handle so can be moved easily. Poke holes in the bottom, put some rubble etc in for drainage.0

Try using old pallets. They can be cut and painted. You'll find loads of them discarded on streets, car parks etc. google pallet garden.0
