TPS Parking Charge Notice

My Mum parked in wrexham for 10 mins while she popped to the toilet as was desperate. On return to her car found a TPS ticket on her window and is now panicing like crazy. Should she ignore it??? She parked on the Central Retail Park - Wrexham by the old Pc world that has now closed down. As there is no store there i would of though it didnt matter about parking there. When speaking to her at the car park the sign is very brief & anything about fines is in very small writing. What should she do??? Any advice please

Read the sticky thread 'PPC letters & threats' & watch the Watchdog clip on it as well. See my signature, the forum view is only one click away. The sticky thread you want is second to top and shows the letter-chain to ignore.

Of course she must ignore it, why are you wondering?

Clearly a scam and pretty well known. It's not a fine.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

The store may be closed so there is no need to patrol the car park. Yet they still do, what does that tell you about these people? Interest in car park management = zero, interest in conning money out of people = 100%.

Luckily your mum can simply forget it ever happened, just totally ignore them and it will eventually dawn on them that they didn't actually ensnare a mug...

after they have spent money trying to reel her in....

....serves them right, just laugh at them. Everyone here does. So can she.

Yep ignore utterly they are bunch of scamming toads who have no interest in parking management, if you ask what that is they will say collecting money off mugs, please don't be one.
Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?

Well done. It isn't about "see what happens" as you can get a pre-view of what will happen by going to the sticky thread second from top, where you will be able to examine their boringly predictable letters and tick them off as they arrive, when you get to the end of the sequence that will be it, your new pen pals will desert you, no more letters.

You will find that there is nothing on the car park signs about fines because there are no fines that can come as a result of using the car park. An unenforceable invoice, yes, a fine, no. As others have said, ignore any letters you may receive.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.
  • Well as predicted & told by many of you my Mum has had a letter from TPS Parking. A Parking Enforcement Notice basically saying the fine has now gone up to £100 and must be paid or this will increase to £150 in 14 days. This will then be forwarded to a debt collection agency who will add costs on. I have told my Mum not to panic & just ignore every letter & eventually they will stop. But she is getting a bit panicy about it. Makes me bloody angry...

Your mum needs to understand what a Debt Collector is.

Its not a bailiff (a popular misconception). Its just someone with no powers at all, who can politely ask for the money - usually via more scary letters. And that's it.

They will not call round (its not worth it), they cannot enter your home, they cannot sieze your telly or cat or anything.

Don't be scared by the threat of a Debt Collector, its just another hollow meaningless scare tactic.

Makes us angry too, which is why we come back here every single day. You see the same regulars here all the time, plus a few new ones who join us every so often, to stop people being scammed this way.

There will be no Court, no CCJ, no bailiff, nothing to pay as it's not a fine, and no effect on your Mum's credit rating.

She will just get the same letters we all do - and despite the 'debt collector' or 'solicitor' headings and bold lettering, threatening increasing charges, they really are very easy to ignore (as we all do!).

All the letters can be seen as picture previews, in the permanent info 'sticky' thread near the top of the parking forum. See my signature for the words to click on, in order to take a step back and see the whole current thread list. One click and you see all the current threads here.

Third from the top, click on 'PPC letters & threats' which is the 'sticky' permanent thread I mentioned.

    1. With your Mum, sit down and watch the Watchdog clip on there, and then

    2. Scroll down to look at the preview pics of Town & City's threatograms, then

    3. Play a nice game of snap with each matching templated threatogram, then

    4. Tell your friends & family about the fake PCN scam so they never pay one.

    HTH, honestly it's easy! :)
