Disposing of calor gas bottles

Dear all, I've inherited a couple of calor gas bottles - the sort that go into those free standing heaters. I need the space so need to get rid. I enquired at the local farm which sells calor gas and they will take them but I get nothing in return. I will probably end up doing that but it seems a waste and wonder if there is any other market for them - for all I know they might be full of gas and it would be good to get a few bob from them.
Can anyone suggest any other way of selling them? Is it likely to be too dangerous to give them away (eg freecycle) other than through a supplier?
Thanks
Liz

Have just had a similar problem. If you have the original agreement (I certainly didn't!) then Calor will repay you.
If not, they can arrange collection.
But it is not a problem to pass the bottle along to someone who can make use of it. It's not dangerous as the bottles are taken back to Calor for re-filling, so they are checked at that point.0 -
Take them to the household waste recycling centre they will take them for free......0

I'm in a similar situation, I have two 15kg (blue) Butane and two 13kg (red) propane, couple of them, are half ish full, would like to get something back for them, don't have the paperwork for them anymore though, I bought them from a fuel station. There are three types of people in this world...those that can count ...and those that can't!

Its amazing that they are so exspensive to buy new and full yet when you try to get a small bit back theres no buyers, yet people go out and buy new ...!!0

Stick them on eBay. I've bought a couple off there myself.
I've cut up a few to make log burners and BBQ's etc.0 -
