Hermes Rant

My parcel turned up eventually, and I sent it back via the Post Office as I managed to source the shoes via an American website at a big reduction. I thought everything was fine until ASOS emailed me to say the Hermes driver had said the parcel had been "lost" but was now "found" and delivered (did he not get in trouble for telling them the parcel was over a side gate that didn't exist, because that's what he said originally?!) and now the rotten thing is lost in the Post Office/ASOS system so they said could they charge me again for them.
If anyone wants me I'll be by the nearest brick wall, banging my head against it.0 -
My replies in red.thriftymac are you sure no one rang your intercom, I've been told this and I definately have.
If your postbox is near your intercom(they usually are)why wouldn't the courier lean their finger on it?
Definitely not. It's so loud it can be heard in every room in the flat and there's no way I could miss it. It's the kind that nearly kills you if someone rings it while you're sleeping because you wake up in such a panic!
Why are you taking days off if you have a reception?
Because like I said the reception isn't always open, it's random. The people who work on it sometimes just work mornings, sometimes just pop in for an hour in the late afternoon, or don't come in at all. It's not a posh apartment block with a 24 hour concierge service or anything. I say reception but really it's not their job to deal with post.
Interesting you state they wouldn't give a time, are you aware it's anytime between 8am - 6pm? so it would be a favour from the courier to scale your waiting time down, if they could.
Well yes, when I say didn't give a time, I mean a more specific time other than 'all the working day'. I didn't mind the first day as I was off work anyway, but to be honest, as I had to take a second day off work due to their error, they could have narrowed it down somewhat as a 'favour' as you say, why should I be inconvenienced for something that wasn't my fault?
Some complexes have a clamping, fine system in place for couriers by camera(self employed courier pays this not the company), also the company state you are responsible for your parcels, you are charged with not letting them out of your sight, so basically the courier is within their rights to refuse to leave their vehicle and goods out of site.
I don't live in a complex, it's free parking on the street, anyone and his dog can park there. As for the part about leaving the parcels unattended - if he'd stayed outside the building and rung the intercom he'd have been stood next to his car, so why did he instead choose to go inside to the reception, leaving his car unattended? I would have taken the parcel down to the front door so he would have been outside the whole time. I told him this when he was shouting at me and he didn't answer then either. He clearly had to park there and leave his car unattended in order to get inside my building to go to the reception desk and leave the card, which is apparently exactly what he would not do! There's simply no reason for not ringing my intercom.
I chuckled at you stating you told them to tell the driver to come back immediately, bet it didn't happen, it would take a brave CS to try it, it may have gone like this CS leaves a message we can see you have called to this address by GPS on your HHT if your still in the area could you call again.
Yes I did ask customer services this. The woman I spoke to was lovely and very helpful and I said that if she wouldn't mind ringing the driver to let him know that I was actually home, he needs to ring my intercom, etc, and she agreed and put me on hold while she phoned the driver. I did tell her that if he wouldn't come back then I would like a refund as my parcel was already late and she was very understanding. She put me on hold for a good five minutes and told me she'd managed to get through to him and he would come back.
Can not repeat any response but simply no.
No to what?
You are completely out of order stating" Probably stealing everything himself and using it as an excuse".
Fine, but the way he shouted at me at something that was not my fault, and not even remotely a problem full stop given the circumstances, was completely uncalled for so I was angry when typing it out. I didn't say that to his face, just venting on a message board!
I was quite reluctant to actually give him the parcel after that exchange but it did get there... three working days late..."
You wouldn't get a parcel from me if I was your courier, the cheap delivery service only works when the customer paying cheap or free does not expect the expensive timed delivery offered by many companies and then these couriers are paid an enhanced payment for their time and trouble and putting up with the rude customer, it takes two to make it work(or three if you have a concierge).
I think you may be watching to many re runs of Upstairs Downstairs
Riiight... so because I mention the word reception you know all about my life? I don't have a concierge. I am not rich. I do not live in some fancy stately home with servants running around doing everything for me. Why do you think I used such a cheap service in the first place instead of getting my chauffeur to ferry the parcel over there in my solid gold Rolls? All I did was pay someone to collect a parcel from me on a named day (no, I wasn't expecting a timed service, but I did pay for a specific day and this did not happen) - seemingly this was too much to understand and because of this my parcel was late being collected and I got a right earful in the process for not leaving my parcel in a place it couldn't be collected from that was never part of the agreement when I paid! Can you please tell me how any of this makes me rude, barring the vent on here which I have already stated has absolutely no relation to how I spoke to the driver or the customer services lady on the phone (I was unfailingly polite to the driver even when he was shouting in my face)? Was I rude in making the booking in the first place? Or for daring to complain about not receiving the service I'd paid for - should I have kept my mouth shut and let the driver just drive off for the second day running without attempting to collect the parcel, would that have been the polite thing to do? Or was it rude for a fairly small young woman to be intimidated by a stranger twice her size and age shouting at her in her own doorway with no one else around for backup?! I must be having a bad day because I don't see where I went wrong. Please enlighten me.0 -
Thankv you for the advice!! But Im a bit confused as to why its the sellers fault he didnt lose the pushchair, this was my first time using a courier service and on the web site there is no mention of this 12 digit number.. Im also not sure why i wouldnt get my money back because i got it on ebay, it was me who arrange pick up, which the courier company managed to do but after that as you mentioned in your reply it gets passed to different place, so at the end of the day its not the seller or myself doing the job its a company who advertise a service which they dont seem to be able do or able to complete.0

Sorry you've taken offence,
My point was the seller has no problem because it was pick up only(if you paid by Paypal)then it is his problem.
Things go missing in every delivery company, awful but true 100% would be great. To find things a barcode receipt is very useful the seller should have held onto it in case there was a problem(that is the sellers fault).
My post was to you for your benefit, if it's lost and no one has the receipt, it will take a lot longer to track it down. I would put a claim in with Paypal(I don't think you could with Ebay)for a collect item but if you paid by Paypal you can via Paypal.
I don't want to sound harsh but it may focus the seller's mind on finding the needed receipt.
I wasn't trying to suggest whose fault it was, just advice as a courier.0 -
You do realise they are the same company.
Interlink and DPD are not the same company they are sister companies, and have seperate sortation, collection and delivery depots.
They are both owned by the same company Geo post. Interlink are a franchise network primarily and DPD are fully corparate as far as i am aware0
