£ 500 for a mobile phone that will be yesterday's newspaper in a year's time.
Words fail me.
I'm one of these people who buys the best model from the previous year.
Got the HTC Desire last Jan2011 for £190
Will hopefully pick the Galaxy S2 for about £200ish once the S3 is out & sell my Desire for about £90 so my total upgrade cost will be about £110.

At £200, the S2 would be a good deal, but fear that it will not be that price for a while.
However, I applaud your sensible approach to replacement technology.0 -

I bought the Desire for £189 the month it was launched, on a £10 a month, 24 month, 3GB contract, which wasn't bad for state of the art technology. There's love in this world for everyone. Every rascal and son of a gun.

£500 is pretty reasonable for mobile computing technology which outperforms laptops costing twice that only a few years ago (and it makes phone calls too). There's love in this world for everyone. Every rascal and son of a gun.

Same here - bought the Desire end of 2010 for £200-ish.
Just signed a contract 18 months total cost £270 for the S2, and will sell the Desire for £80-90.
There's no real need to go for the latest technology in most cases. The original Desire is still a fantastic phone and was rated higher than the iPhone 4 in some reviews.0 -

I agree but who doesn't like having the latest gadget! I'm a real sucker for it but it costs a fortune to try keep up with the latest tech.
I have a galaxy s2 that i'll be putting onto sim only when my contract is up because I don't really need anything more than it does.. as much as I'd like a new phone, i'd play with it for a few days and then it'll just be a phone then!0
