    Hi OP ..
Was the job advertised by the agency as Temp to perm position?
ie work 12 weeks and the company takes your OH on as a permanent employee? How much would the Agency have charged their client if this had happened?
This might be an important question and also if it was coming to an end , a reason why he was laid off.

It's just a thought but the Agency by advertising the vacancy as temp to perm would get a lot more prospective candidates. The client would get (no offence) maybe a more qualified temp hoping for full time employment
Each time a temp gets near to the 12 week temp to perm agreement, a 'sudden' problem with the temp 'might' appear and that person is no longer required.
Job is then readvertised , still as temp to perm and the cycle begins again

Hi :) yes it was a temp to perm position and this was his 3rd week there. I dont know how much they would have charged.

My OH does not have an attitute with work. He can sometimes, if be truthfull, be over pleasing and over the normal to please everyone. He had regular meetings with the contact at the agency, who would pop into the place to check on everyone every couple of days. He was getting positive feedback from him, saying the employer was happy with his work, glad that he was doing overtime etc etc. At no point throughout these meetings, or any comments from the employer was said about any attitude.

Normally when I read threads like this I am also one to think there might be more to it but hand on heart there was nothing. OH was keen to prove a hard worker, that he would do anything they needed to get the job done. This is why it has hit my OH hard as they feel they are tarnishing him with an attitude which he does'nt have.

If my OH had an attitude, why not say anything till now? He went to the place of work because he really did not want anyone to think he had an attitude. He went there to clear the air as he did not know what to think as it came completely out of the blue.

His references are brilliant. His old boss rang today to just have a catch up. She was appalled at what had happened.

OH has been to several companies today to look for work. He is still slightly upset that they have said things about his attitude, but nothing more can be done about it. He will need to learn from this experience and approach his next job with this as a learning curve.

Thank you for your comments. :T

Aye. Its done. If the company treated him like that would you wanna go back? Not really. Also, dont have the mentality to do anything to get the job done. You must have some boundaries otherwise your morals are loose and not looked upon favourably.

OP have you come up with any ideas of how you'll get through till he finds a job, have you got any stuff you can put on EBay or anything? Little things add up.
I don't know if you would get any council tax benefit or anything like that but it's worth looking into.

It was probably nothing at all that your DH did.

In my last job a man from an agency worked with us for months, absolutely ages, at least 9 months.
till the manager found out he was epileptic, the manager said to him (in front of everybody) 'I don't want you back tomorrow, your work is below standard'

It was ofcourse a complete lie and we were all gobsmacked but too scared to speak up.

What goes round though, the manager was laid of shortly after in a round of redundancies......
this is disgusting , i am not blaming your for not saying anything but i wouldnt want to work for a manager that sacked somone because of thier disability

    Hey Barneysmom :j

Thank you for your kind words. He received his wages, which if we are careful we can stretch it for the next 6 weeks or a bit longer. I am really hoping one of the agencies comes through or one of the 100's of applications he has made will offer an interview/job. Like everywhere, jobs around here are scarce.

What I am really annoyed at though it there has been some really great jobs whcih agencies advertised but once you ask them "they are already filled"!!!!! Some of these are with agencies OH is registered with. He rang all the ones he is registered with Thursady and Friday.

As for benefits, nope we are not entitled as I earn too much. To be honest I really really dont like claiming benefits but we had no choice when he was ill. Now that he is getting better, we need to make our own money.
Welll I hope you all have a fab bank holiday weekend
