iPhone 4s - HAGGLING A DECENT PLAN WITH ORANGE

Hi all
I have been due an upgrade for over a year now, so I am currently on a rolling contract with Orange. I would like to get an iPhone 4s, with the best possible deal available.
I''ve compared talk plans across the main network providers (Orange, Three, Vodaphone, T-Mobile, O2) and Orange are AWFUL in comparison!!! The best plan I've seen for me is with Three.
I've been with Orange for over 7 years now, and ideally don't want to leave them (but money talks, so if I have to I will).
I read other threads about "haggling" with Orange. Some people say do the usual thing of calling them and haggling a better deal. However, other people are saying don't haggle, just ask for your PAC. They go on to say Orange will call ME before I get my PAC, in order to try and keep me. In other words, it's making Orange come running to you, rather than vice versa.
Has anyone tried asking for their PAC instead of haggling?
Bit worried to incase they don't call me. Or even if they do call, their best plan is a million miles away from Three's...will they really try and match it??
Any advice would be greatly appreciated

When I called them to request my PAC they pretty much said they couldn't match Three and gave me the PAC.
So I used it
No harm in trying them... even if they provide your PAC and dont' call you back, you don't have to actually use the PAC.0 -

What a shame...doesn't really show that they value their loyal customers does it. So good on you for no longer being loyal!!
Anyone else had any experience with them??0 -
Same as the others - Orange could not even nearly match Three, so I left. The only thing to be aware of with Three is a lack of signal in some areas - do you know anyone that is already with them to check it is ok? I don't have a problem at home but do at my parents, and despite spending a great deal of time there Three are not interested (even though they claim to have coverage there!).0

go get a PAYG sim for Three FIRST, top it up and see what the signal is like where you live and where you commonly go - dont tie yourself into anew contract without doing your research for your needs first.0 -
I have just upgraded from iphone 3g to 4s with Orange.
I had the same issue with them being unable to match offers from three, however, As I am currently in a battle with Three over a faulty iphone 4 (my husbands phone with the contract in my name) I will NEVER take a contract with them!
I did manage to get Orange to give me a free phone on the £36 a month tariff which seems to be about average at the moment so I'm reasonably happy.
Three customer service is truly shocking! both on the phone and in the stores!0 -

To be completely fair. Apple doesn't actually let 3 touch the iPhones at all.0 -
Gosh!! It seems Orange are that PROFITABLE that they can AFFORD to just lose customers willy nilly.
Seems those recent "price hikes" in our Orange bills really are paying off for Orange!!0 -

I picked one up today strangely enough. Definately going to check signal in my common places first.
Fingers crossed I can chase the better deal and leave Orange..why pay more than I have to eh0 -
If they won't atleast offer you T-Mobile full monty prices, there is no point in staying with Orange.0
