Ooh that's so exciting. We had our honeymoon in Cuba. Loved it! And best of all, My in laws paid for it as their present to us. Ace present or what?

    When are you going?

Ignore that - Feb, obviously - sorry.

How lovely to have that to look forward to.

    Debt (excluding mortgage) April 2012 - £29388, May 2012 - £25588.
    Emergency Fund £0 / £1000.

    Hi Polly,
I've loved reading your diary. It's really inspiring. Thank you. I'm not sure how to subscribe so I can keep on seeing how well you're doing - and hopefully motivate me:)

Aww, thanks! That's so sweet. I'm used to being the inspired rather than the inspiree so that's new for me in diary land:D

Wedding present of a honeymoon in Cuba?! Wow! That's amazing, lucky you :) I really can't wait to go. I've been checking the locations out on Google Maps and will soon be buying some books about Cuba. I want to learn all about the history :j

Oh thank you so much :) I can't wait for the lovely warmth right in the middle of winter. It'll be such a nice change from the undoubtedly dreary February weather :D

Today is payday, yey! So it's time to add to my "balance just before payday" totals list.
I’ve had some very welcome extra incomings this month…a good job, as I also had a few extra expenditures!

    Extra Bonuses:
    Ebay selling: £120
    Halifax mortgage goodwill payment: £370
    Furniture Village goodwill payment: £150
(Thanks to this forum I found out about my sofas being mis-sold :j)

    Extra Expenses:
    Vet bills: £250
Hairdresser: £80 (shhhhhh…it’s only once every six months!)
    OH’s birthday pressie: £50
6 weeks of dog training: £105
2 months of dog food plus restock of worming tablets: £75

I’ve also paid a bit extra off my credit cards and treated myself to some new clothes and things since I’ve not done so for ages and I had some extra cash. The list now looks as follows:

    January LBM
    Total Balance: -£4,095

February debt reduced by £92 this month
    Total Balance: -£4,003
Total debt reduction so far: £92

March debt reduced by £289 this month
    Total Balance: -£3,714
Total debt reduction so far: £381 (average £190 per month)

April debt reduced by £459 this month
    Total Balance: -£3,255
Total debt reduction so far: £840 (average £280 per month)

May debt reduced by £467 this month
    Total Balance: -£2,788
Total debt reduction so far: £1307 (average £327 per month)

    :j
  • If I can continue to increase my total balance by £300 per month, I should be at zero by Feb/March next year.

If I only manage £200 per month, it will be June/July next year. Either way it's in my sights :)
  • Just testing to see if my new signature works...

Well done Polly. You're doing a brilliant job and it's so good to see how the payments have come down.

    Keep up the good work.

    Mm :T
