Love your graph Polly. It looks ace with that clear downward trend.

I can't do spreadsheets. I just lack the willingness to sit down and learn.

I joined swagbucks yesterday - thought I would get some Amazon vouchers to spend on presents - but already I am regretting it - having to give my email address and other personal details out to all and sundry - bah.
    GC June £78.50 / £250, May £262 / £250.
    Debt (excluding mortgage) April 2012 - £29388, May 2012 - £25588.
    Emergency Fund £0 / £1000.
  • Hello :)

Thanks for the comments on my graph. Unfortunately the downward trend isn't going to be quite so downward after last week...will explain that in a bit!

The app I use is called EasyMoney (think it's all one word). I started with the free version put paid to get the full version (around £5 I think). Best £5 I ever spent for money saving!

So...nightmare week. First Hapless Hound 1 caused some damage in my car (estimated repair cost £300, but only cosmetic so I will leave that for a while), then Hapless Hound 2 had an accident and required emergency surgery on his leg. He's OK now thankfully but that was £200 that would otherwise have been in the savings pot!

On the plus side, my lovely dad has just booked a family holiday for next year. It's always been his dream on retirement to treat the whole family (parents, siblings, partners and children) to a holiday in the Caribbean. It's now booked and all 14 of us are going in February :)

Been AWOL for a bit, but just read through your last few days. Loving the graph Polly, its looking good.

The CAribbean ??? Beautfiul, where are you going if you dont mind saying ? Dont worry if not. We were married in the Caribean, I also worked out there many years ago for a little while and last year Mr Pinot spent 3 months working out there, hopping between islands. ( I was working there also but my job only lasted 3 weeks , so I had to leave him out there ! :() How lovely to have something nice to look forward to !

How are your ebay bits doing. I'm interested to hear how you get on selling the CDs and Wii Games xx

  • Hey Pinot, nice to see you again. I must catch up with your diary!
Holiday is to Cuba, woohoo! Can't wait. I've been to Jamaica before but Cuba promises to be a totally different and unique experience. I'm going to read all about the history before I go; can't wait :)

Where were you married? I bet it was like a fairytale!

36 CDs didn't sell, 19 sold for between 99p and £1.65 and the Wii game sold for £7.50. Definitely a better return than the sell-your-CD sites but I'm not sure if I can be bothered to relist the unsold ones to be honest! All that faffing around with Post Offices...bleurgh.
  • Well I've posted all the CDs, yey! But forgot to take the Wii game with me, boo. So I'll have to post that today instead.

I've just signed up for the free trial with Credit Expert from Experian and was pleased to find my current score is 960. Apparently the negative counting against me is the fact that I've opened a couple of new credit cards in the past few months so hopefully they will drop off after I've had them 6 months and my score will increase. Is that how it works?!

Bet Cuba will be wonderful, theres so much history for you to cramup on !

We were married in St Lucia, it was a great day. Mr Pinot went back to the hotel we were married at last year as he was working out there. It was a shame I couldnt go too !

Well doen on selling some of the CDs. I put my on Music Magpie or Zapper as it was so much quicker, and the trips to the Post Office drive me a bit mad !

Re the Credit Score, I'm not sure exactly how it works, mine is totally shot to pieces ! I do know they say not to apply for more than one item of credit within 3 month timeframes as it will have an adverse affect, but hey I'm no expert there. I dont bother looking at mine anymore, there really isnt much to see nowadays ! x :D

  • I think I've been lucky in that I've had my LMB just before things got too out of hand. All thanks to this forum, though! Without it I expect I'd have just carried on spending whatever I liked and ended up in bigger trouble.

I'm hoping to keep all my newly found money/budgeting skills with me forever. If I can start my 30s with a clean slate, finances in a good place, then I'll be happy :)
