Travel insurance for USA

Can anyone help please? My son is in America coming to the end of a study abroad placement at Chicago uni through Leeds university. He is tagging6 weeks of travelling across America onto the end of his studies. Whilst at uni he has been paying health insurance through a reciprocal agreement with Leeds. However this will end next week. We are trying to sort out both health cover and normal travel insurance to cover his personal belongings but are struggling to find anything suitable. The main problem seems to be that he needs To be in this country at the time of taking out the insurance so cover includes outward flight and return. We have even tried brokers without success. Can anyone advise?
