Not exactly something you should be happily admitting to though.... that's breaking the Copyright Law!!

Where I used to live has a HUGE library which I was always using for Games, DVDs, CDs etc.
Unfortunately I moved and the one in town is small, plus it's closed at the weekend.

Bizarrely Watford (where I work) doesn't even have a public library!!!

What about this one?

Hempstead Road

• Sefton council are in the process of privatising "non-essential" services such as libraries. :|

see Daily Post

More and more libraries are going to be privatised and run for profit by the likes of waterstones - they need support.

for more info read: "Globalisation, Information and Libraries: The Implications of the World Trade Organisation's GATS and TRIPS Agreements" by Ruth Rikowski. (which your local library will be able to order in for you).

I'm also a big fan of libraries - I requested that we get Moneywise magazine at my local one which they now do. It comes a little late as it goes to another library first but saves money buying it! Always worth asking the librarian if there's something like that you'd like to see in the library.

I have my (credit card size) East Riding Libraries card but also wanted to comment about using libraries when I travel.

When I travel to the Highlands of Scotland, I use the libraries for free internet access.

I've also used the libraries in Boston and Philadelphia in the USA for free internet access.

It's worth checking out the library before you pay Internet Cafe charges.;)
10 Dec 2007 - Led Zeppelin - I was there. :j :cool2: I wear my 50 (gold/red/white) blood donations pin badge with pride. Give blood, save a life.
• Essex libraries no longer charge for reservations if you do them yourself over the internet ... ask an assistant to do it and it's a different matter!
• I love my library and my dream holiday (apart from going to Oz!) would be a week locked in a library on my own! I love reading I make sure I read to my two oldest children every night and it has defently rubbed off on them my daughter (5) now has a reading age of an 8 yr old and my son (8) has a reading age of 10/11.
And its free and to be honest there is not much these days that is!:rotfl:
I used my library for the internet aswel before I got it at home.
I miss my mum every minute of every day  R.I.P xx

I'm a library Assistant too and have to agree with all of the above comments. I have to add that in Cheshire we have a scheme where if are in receipt of benefits (and can prove that) you can get a special card where video, cd and dvd loans are cheaper. There are similar schemes for those who are blind and severely disabled. Worth asking at you local library.

We also have events such as story time for children and even in a few weeks a speed dating night where you talk about books.

The more people use libraries the more investment is made in them by local councils. So use yours!
