My local library is fab, and my DS aged two always asks to go the "books".:rotfl:
They are really good with him, there is colouring for him to do and they are hapy for him to make noise! I find i can order all the latest titles and they come in in a few days, i have saved an absolute fortune.
The town library also does rhymetime for little ones and other bits, they are well worth checking out!0 -
and then there's the online renewal system to extend the book loans - or at least there is at mine along with automated telephone service. makes it even more convenient in case you cant return the book in time!
cant fault them, with free internet cafe too0 -
As I type this, I am using a free internet connection. My local library is 30 second walk, thank goodness, so I use the net here as I have non at home due to my location.
great resources.Save saynoto0870.com in your favorites, and stop giving companies more £££ dialling 0870 numbers when you can dial freephones or cheaper alternatives
call your credit card company, tell them that you want to leave, 99% of the time theyll lower your APR%
Remember when that Bank Manager or Salesperson smiles at you, all he sees is £ notes. Dont forget the motto, "the wider their grin, the more debt your in"0 -
don't forget the free activities they put on. our has events for children and a local history group for people of a certain age.0

I have to declare an interest here - I work in a library! Don't forget to ask about your free Bookstart packs if you have little ones; they get them at 8 months, 18 months and 3 years.
Most libraries have storytimes and rhymetimes for youngsters, and many also lend out free Storysacks: http://www.standards.dfes.gov.uk/parentalinvolvement/pics/pics_storysacks/These are a great resource for families.
Can't seem to get the link to work, sorry! It's a good job I'm not responsible for doing the free Internet taster sessions in our library!:oC'est le ton qui fait la chanson0 -
good thread! my local library charges 60p for reservations and kids DVDs are now free. I also reserve the new hardbacks I fancy reading, a bargain for 60p.0

i have been a member of the library since i was little and took the children when they were old enough, theres no way i could afford to buy the books but for 50p i can reserve a brand new one0

Don't forget if like me you work a way from home and it's a pain to go in the weekend, that you can always join up at the library closest to your work.
All you need is proof of address (utilities etc) and that you work in the borough (work id)."This is a forum - not a support group. We do not "owe" anyone unconditional acceptance of their opinions."0 -
i wish i had popped into the libary 2 days ago i forgot and now i owe charges i guess....gt quite a few things as well. Go to the libary but remember when u need to get stuff back by lol0
