Spliced text messages

My boyfriend and I are both on Orange pay monthly contracts and have Android handsets (he has Motorola Defy and I have Samsung Galaxy S2). I have no idea if this problem is network or phone related; if anyone else has experienced it I'd be very keen to know.

Sometimes when I send him a text, he receives a message consisting of the first half of the text I have just written and the second half of a random message I had sent to him months ago. It happens maybe a couple of times a month and there seems to be no pattern to it.

The old message spliced onto the end is never the same message, but they are definitely messages I wrote in the past and since deleted from my phone. The originals are also deleted from his phone, so it seems like the network might be 'remembering' them somehow?! It's totally bizarre.

Sometimes what he receives is total gibberish that doesn't make sense, but there is the odd occasion when the sentence does actually follow on by chance. It has led to some unfortunate misunderstandings!

Has anyone experienced anything like this?

Text messagtes are limited to 160 characters, many pheones allow longer messages and they are joined by the recieving phone so it loos like one big message to the recipient.

If could be the two phones are simply not reading the messages correctly or its an issue on the network side. Get your providers to re-send the SMS settings and if it keeps up get them to check the relevent account settings on his account
