Hi I have my main telephone registered on 18185 and have saved money by doing this.

However I see you can register mobiles on there too, but it doesnt explain the money side of things ....

is it worth it ? how much does it then cost per call ?

can you use it for texting too ?

any help or advise pls .
Kindness costs nothing :)

I don't think that you can use it for texts and they don't give any rates for texts. And there is no point in using it for calling landlines and mobiles (excluding. possibly, 070 'personal' numbers).

However, you can use it for
    calling abroad
calling 0845 numbers for just 3p/min
    calling 0870 numbers for 1p/3p /min

(plus 4-5p connection and your provider's rate for calling landline if you don't use inclusive minutes).

The rates for 020 access from mobiles are a little higher than for 18185 access from a landline.

That depends. If you get free 0808 calls on your mobile, then you can call landlines for 1p per minute (plus 5p connection fee), which is certainly better than the 10p per minute I'd otherwise be charged.

Yes, I agree. I meant ordinary landlines that cost only a connection charge when calling from a landline.
I think there are ways to call 0800 and 0808 for 'free' through other landline access numbers.

Yes, it's not quite as good us just paying a connection fee, but an additional 1p per minute to call an ordinary landline number isn't bad.

I've no idea whether you can daisy-chain access numbers!

Unlimited landlines on a mobile contract can call their 01 geographical number for 18185 rates that are cheaper than the 08 access number as 18185 get revenue off the incoming call.

Also if you run out of cross net mins using unlimited landlines for access to 18185 mobile rates at 18185 and similar companies well beats the UK average of 35p a minute the networks charge when cross net mins are exhausted from you mobile plan.

Add in 08 numbers costs from mobiles, but routed via 18185 with a mobile contracts cross net mins or unlimited landlines = 2 smaller bills than a gigantic bill from your mobile company. $aving$ !!
SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe ;)

Heres the tariff if your using it from your mobile minutes http://www.18185.co.uk/mobilerates.php

Good for 0845/0870 and intl calls, and probaly UK Mobile Calls if you have a unlimited landline bolt on and have used up x-net mobile minutes

If you have inclusive x-net minutes no point in calling the 0808 freephone access number via a geographical access number, when you can call there geographical access number direct.Handy though if you have no charge freephone access eg giffgaff.

Depends on who you are with for payg. I was with giffgaff who provide free calls to 0800 numbers, so it was an ideal combination. Saved loads of money calling 0845/0870 numbers. Calls can work out cheaper even on their 0800 number where they are generally 1p more than from their landline access number.

E.g 5p connection +1p per min to landline vs 10p per min direct from mobile provider. Talk for 10min 15p with 18185 or £1 from payg rates assuming your with giffgaff, could be more from other providers.

So I would say..yes it is worth it to register your mobile only if you can get cheap/free calls to their access numbers to take advantage of their services. Otherwise its a no. :)
