Halifax Credit Card

Just had to post my experience of the most incredible level of incompetence. Last month I transferred my credit card balance from Barclacard to Halifax - was the best offer. Halifax now inform my that I cannot make payments online or over the phone unless I have a current account with them - but I can set up a direct debit.....
I do not wish to set up a direct debit as I pay as much as possible each month to clear the balance within the offer period. So do I want to be mucking about with stamps/envelopes and Royal Mail loosing both whilst charging the earth for a stamp?!
So I have just transferred the balance back to the Barclaycard as at least their website is functional.
Also, EVERYTIME I phoned the Halifax, it took them at least 10 minutes to bring up my details. So I have spent 61 minutes on the phone to them, just so they can announce that I cannot pay a variable amount each month unless I use Royal Mail.
My Halifax credit card is now in no fewer than 23 pieces. I would phone them to close the account out of courtesy, but frankly I don't have another hour to spare.......

Wouldnt the easiest way have been just set up a basic current account with the Halifax. Would have save yo an awful lot of stress.
I'm all for an easy life.
It would have been in the terms and conditions of the CC.
Ive been with the Halifax for donkeys years and never, ever had a problem.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
The sort code and collection account number will be printed on the statement. Just use these, adding your card number as the reference, to set up a bill payment* from your existing current account held elsewhere.
Job sorted!
* Suggest a £1 test payment is made first.0 -

I have a Halifax Clarity CC but do not bank with them. I just pay by Faster Payments from my First Direct on-line access. I do have a Direct Debit set up to pay the minimum amount in case I make a mistake.0

Yup its on the back of statments for online payments, also bet your bank has their details alsoDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

Have to say that the Halifax is one of the few financial institutions that I have never had any beef with.
Their on-line banking system is a bit pants, particularly the credit card bit, but they've never messed anything up for me in over 17 years of banking with them - I actually opened my current account when they were still a Building Society.0 -
Even current account holders with Halifax, have to pay the same way, by setting up a bill payment with their account number and sort code and using the card number as the reference. You've just thrown your toys out of your pram for nothing.Debt free and staying that way! :beer:0
