I could be wrong... but I think these are charges for text information services - you text your request to 89080 at the regular text cost, they send you back a picture/video from 700034115 at a cost of £1.50. [STRIKE]The Phone Pay Plus website suggests that the service is operated by Peekaboo TV who provide a softcore !!!!!! service for magazines such as Bizarre, Maxim and Playboy.[/STRIKE] EDIT - ignore the previous sentence, it looks as if this shortcode is used by all sorts of services.
It's a long time since I've used t-mobile, but I'm sure I seem to remember that from you online account you could view texts that had been sent and received - if so, see what your son texted to 89080 - it would be a word or code to request specific content.0 -
Is it not the other way round? I.e. a call to 700034115 and a premium text from 89080 ?ilikewatch wrote: »...you text your request to 89080 at the regular text cost, they send you back a picture/video from 700034115 at a cost of £1.50...0 -
The short code 89080 is a text information service from a third party company. The two 10p charges you see would be a text to the original short code of 89080, the 2 x £1.50 charges would be for the responses that the company have sent back. It would not have been from an app as it requires a text to be manually sent from the handset to request the information.

unfortunately this is the unhelpful nonsense that the Networks are instructing their Customer Service staff to misinform customers with.http://support.t-mobile.co.uk/discussions/index?page=forums&topic=801019661f971c013675861f620052c3

Under new guidance (11-page/155KB PDF) issued by the regulator it said the malware contained in mobile apps had been used to send text messages containing keywords that result in consumers being charged for using PRS "shortcodes" without their knowledge or consent.0 -
I found this thread after googling "89080" when the same number appeared on this months T-Mobile bill.
Thankfully (for me at least) it's only one message @ 10p but I'd be very interested in discovering how it got there so I can avoid the problem escalating.
I never knowingly text a premium number which leaves me to suspect I have a rogue app :think:0 -
PAYFORIT charges
Payforit have been charging money on my 13 year olds mobile phone bill. Once a week 4 separate amounts of £2 are charged to the bill one after the other (Sunday mornings interestingly). The payments are for 'content' and there is no shortcode showing against the payments nor any original text relating to this.
My daughter has no idea what it is all about -_-.
She has an Iphone on Orange. Orange say I need to contact Payforit but there are no contact details on their website.
Can someone please tell me what she might have done? Has she accidentally subscribed to something? Is it likely to be a game? Is it Payforit that is charging the money or are they akin to a Paypal service and its the merchant that I need to get hold of?
Is there some way to find out exactly what you are subscribed to via your mobile?
How do I find out what game (she has hundreds) these weekly charges are in relation to?

Either they are lying or your daughter is. Personally, I don't exclude the former.Whenever you want to purchase content and charge it your mobile, you will be presented with a standard Payforit screen that includes clear information on the content/service you are buying, the merchant you are buying from and how much it will cost you.
Once you authorise payment by pressing ‘Pay Now’ or ‘Subscribe’, a payment request goes directly to your mobile operator for validation.
However, who is definitely lying is Orange (typically) as Payforit advise to contact the network with all questions: Contact.
Orange must tell you what company they collect the money on behalf off and share the loot with.0
