Luckily, we can prove he was in the EU, he's a lorry driver and his digi card states which country he is in :)

My husband was back on the boat last night, docking this morning, he managed to grab one of the officers and ask him why it says welcome to USA when they are docking, he told him that all the ferries (this is North Sea Ferries) have been registered in Bermuda, and their satellites are bounced off a USA satellite for their internet on the ship!

What this means though to people on the ferry, is that your mobile company think that's where you are, hence the £60 charges over the past few months, there are also phone calls saying he is calling from USA. So even if you do have a Euro booster it will charge you seperately (this isn't the case for our large bill though, this clearly states he is in Europe - that seems to be a different issue) Another lorry driver got charged £80 for a call which said he was calling from Bermuda - that was refunded by vodaphone.

The ships have no signs up warning of this, I dread to think of how many charges people have incurred on the boat and not realised because they expect a higher bill due to being abroad.

Anyway, t-mob have my bill in dispute, and the direct debit won't leave my account until it's sorted. So watch this space..............

Ha ha, I love all these conspiracy theories :)
  • I think that T mobile are in breach of contract if they have not done this booster warning/data allowance thing you talk about. Given that it is this which resulted in the over-spend I think T mobile have no option other than to waive the bill, otherwise you can bring them in front of the small claims court for breach of contract and demand a refund plus expenses. I'd get him to save the text which told him he didn't need the booster if possible to help support your case, together with any other communications you've had with the company, just in case you need it.

I would think that there would be the problem, in the EU and the countries that t-mobile cover the you would automatically be directed to a.landing page as soon as you try to access the internet, this would let you buy a booster for 1 day, week or mth, however if you werd out of the EU (or the network states you are) then internet boosters would not apply and would be then able to just access the.internet but at.a big difference EU 1.50 per mb worlwide 7.50 per mb. by the sounds of it that is what has happened, have you had a call for the recal department yet?

    " Hi folks

Thanks for the post and hopefully I can put your minds to rest on this one.

We recently identified an issue where customer travelling within the EU were not being directed to the landing page to purchase / renew a data roaming booster. It has now been resolved and if anyone has been impacted by this, can get in touch with customer services or the helpful twitter team @TmobileUKHelp who will get the bill adjusted to the cost of boosters that would have been required for the amount of data used.

This was only highlighted yesterday to customer services so apologies that it wasn't common knowledge when you rang.

I'll be around most of the day so if you have any further questions, please post them below.
