im getting pretty peeved.

my neighbour has a cat, he gave this cat away sometime ago but i think the "new" owner dropped him back into the area to make his way back the new wner was contacted and said oh he's been missing a while etc and if he's hapy to go back home then they will leave him here etc etc.

now neighbour has neglected him somewhat extensively, he has bald patches around his knec back end and under neath the legs and tummy, he has the biggest flease you can imagine on an animal, and worms, OMG so disgusting you see them wiggly out his behind when he walks.
cat is left to fend for himself his owner doesnt alow him in the house no matter how much he cry's no matter what the weather is like.

latest thing that really has got my attentionj and blood boiling is that someone has thrown an egg at him and its clumped up his furr to the skin, my neighbour spoke to me and said that someone had done this but when i said he needs to wash him down and flea treat him and worm his he told me the thing isnt going anywhere neer the bathroom, he can stay like it :mad::mad:

i bit my lip or i would have smacked him in the gob and kept on going till i saw fit to let him go.

he big pals with my tinkerbell the enjoy being together, and thank god i deflea and deworm my cats regular.

do i bite the bullet, get him in the house worm him deflea him and bath him, get a flea callar on him and send him back out and in the mean time try and get someone to come and take him to a forever home on the sly?

its gunna hurt him like hell with all the matts on him and he is a shortfurr do could end up with more bald patches in the meantime but better than him being in pain all the time with matts to the skin.

    Poor thing !

I'd say you have to do something for the poor thing,he sounds in an awfull state.

I guess (assuming you don't want to maybe have him long term) the best thing to do if phone a cat rescue asap before he gets really ill.

    Previous owner sounds horrible!

He deffo needs some immediate TLC ,not sure about bathing him if you are going to be putting him back outside as it's still cold where I live at night.

Hope he gets sorted REALLy soon.
Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.

Also he may really need to see a vet,do you know your vet well? I think mine would help out in this circumstance as the cat it in such a state,he may need a bit of sedation to be able to sort out his skin and matted coat.

If it is as bad as you say I'd be half tempted to kidnap the cat and take it to a cat rescue centre. It's got to be better than its current life.

If you are willing, and it sounds like you are, you definitely need to do something and it sounds like your neighbour won't be bothered if you do, so no sneaking around seems necessary.

If you are happy to treat the cat, then I think you should, and then perhaps ask the neighbour if it would be OK for you to try and find him an alternative home/contact rescue centres.

It isn't the cats fault that he has had the misfortune to have carers who disown him. Thank goodness that you are his guardian:A angel looking out for him.

I would speak to the neighbour and ask if if they mind try to do something for the cat or that you contact someone who will take are of him. Just so you don't aggravate him, after all some people can be funny. I am sure it wouldn't cause any objections, then go ahead and do something for the cat. He sounds like he is in need of urgent attention.

The bald patches could be ring worm ( fungal skin disease) which people can catch too and is highly contagious, however in cats it is very serious.

I would try the RSPCA first. With this much physical evidence that the owner is witholding medical treatment to a sick animal, they may actually be able to do something about it (they, too, have to work within the law which is why they often can't do much as long as an animal is fed and watered)

I agree this really is a case of animal cruelty, but I have heard too many scare stories about the RSPCA euthanasing stray cats to feel completely comfortable with this choice ( someone correct me if I am wrong there )
Are you willing to take this cat on your self and deal with these issues? Can you afford to take him to a vet? What are your options?

This is animal cruelty and should be reported. This guy could .. and should ... be prosecuted for behaving like this towards an animal.
Personally i would have acted sooner but thats just me.

You sure its egg? Its possibly an absess or other such nasty thats burst!

I agree with the others - get this cat under your care - I bet the owner won't care or even notice if he/she decides to move in with you, as he's already given him away once.

I have been caring for my neighbours FOUR cats for several years. On what she feeds them they were emaciated and flea ridden. She knows well that I do this, they even have a kennel they live in, in my FRONT garden and I TOLD her they go there. She just shrugged. I even had one neutered (she agreed to this.)

The RSPCA can't be trusted, I'm sorry, they are too quick to PTS. Also they are too busy - too many cases. If you are willing to help, then don't think about it too much, this cat needs you NOW.

Even if I'm on the shopping threads, it doesn't mean I'm buying! Sometimes it's good to just look and then hit the CLOSE button!

Is it legally the neighbours cat then? Has he said he doesn't want it? Others would probably know, but I'm not sure how you do all this if the neighbour does claim responsibility?

How about taking a few close up pictures, show him and say you are that concerned that you showed your vet/animal shelter and they said he needs immediate treatment. Whatever reaction he has then should determine your next actions.
