Anyone any idea on lead time for them inspecting to see if you can have a water meter and fitting it. I know it does say it can take up to three months on the website but wondered if they are being installed quicker. TIA:)

I would expect that if you have applied between Feb and April it would be pretty close to the 3 months due to the volume of requests that they would be getting. However I did think that this was 3 months for full fit.

I think it may depend which UU area you're in . I'm in a rural village, and my neighbour had their survey and the meter was installed within a month of request. My friend who lives in Manchester waited about 10 weeks altogether.

I enquired about a water meter on 17th April and it was fitted yesterday. We are in Wigan.
Didn't realise that the meters now have to be fitted inside your home - if possible. You have to pay for outside install.

    Thanks everyone:)

Just had the letter through about making an appointment to come and inspect. That's come through in under a week. I didn't realise you could have it taken out within 13 months if it works out dearer:o

I work for UU, the work volumes for free meter options are high atm, but we're doing well!

As for the meter being taken out, we dont actually take the meters out, we simply keep them in, however revert your account back onto the RV charges, If and when a new owner of the property moves in they will then be charged on measured charges whether they like it or not!

Got the letter on Saturday to say they'd be in touch re survey or I could ring re making the appointment. Anyhow, being bank holiday office wasn't open until today. Rang this morning and lady I spoke to seemed very confused and said I'd get a call back. No call so I've rung again and apparently they rang my mobile on Friday to say they are coming tonight between 5.00pm -8.0ppm. No missed calls and no voicemail and no calls to housephone either. Most odd-lol

wow that was fast. hope you make some savings from it!!

Have you signed up for their online account management?

I think that you can add 12 manual reads a year. maybe a good idea for the first year to make sure you know how you use your water.

you may be best to wait for the conf that your account has been changed to a measure account first though.

Thanks bluewire:) Not signed up for anything yet as fitter said we'd get a phonecall. Will chase it though if we don't as derfinately want to monitor it for the costing. Have already checked it to make sure it's not whizzing around as being the pessimist I often am I thought I bet we've got a leak somewhere we don't know about:o

Plan on using the water as we normally would for the first month to get a full idea as well.
