Warning - Changes to Royal Mail Claims

If, like me you use Royal Mail, and if, like me you have things getting 'lost' in the post, be aware of the following:
Maximum compensation for 1st class used to be 100 x 1st class stamps, IE £46.00
Now it is £46 flat even though the cost of a 1st class stamp has gone up to 60p.
Also the time you have to make a claim has been dramatically reduced, from 12 months to 80 days. This change appeared to happen in January.
I used to use the following when posting items sold on Ebay:
If the item cost less than £46, get proof of postage, no matter what the value of the item was.
Over £46 and up to £70 then I would risk 1st recorded, but anything over £70 and it is always Special Delivery.
Posting abroad, up to £46 always with proof of postage, over £46 International signed for with correct compensation, heavier items always sent via Parcels2go or Parcel Monkey.
Using that formula, I have had items go missing but have never been out of pocket.

1st recorded is no different in compensation to 1st class standard. So why waste 95p?0 -
Only so I can see that someone has signed for it, also you have a much better chance with Ebay seller protection if Royal Mail refuse the claim because someone has signed for it.0

I have never signed for any recorded items. They get left in my dog kennel.
So you wouldn't see that I had signed or not. You would get the 'being progressed through the network' message.0 -
I've not signed for recorded either, it just gets handed to me with any other post that day.0

Is it really only 80 days now to make a claim?0

all these(and theres loads) threads on RM.
are people really not keeping up on this?
the changes to business mail prices happened over a month ago now
with a months notice before
longer before the prices were confirmed
retail has just changed, with a months notice
other changes happened in January.
I used to post stuff up like this. however most threads went with no replies,so i don't bother now.0 -

Stupid RM then, if I send recorded and get no signature id make a claim weather I knew it had arrived or not, at the end of the day I would have paid for that signature, so they should have got one?!0 -

You are extremely brave admitting openly on a major forum like this that you are a fraudster, i can't imagine many people wanting to admit to such behaviour.

never mind, I'm sure the rest of us don't mind paying extra for our postage to cover criminals like you.
THANKYOU for your comment however I said I WOULD not that I HAD and I believe if you pay for a service it should be provided. If RM chose to ignore their own procedures they should be made to refund for tht service no?0
