Plumber Pain- gas certificate

We had a Worcester combi boiler fitted (eventually) along with an en-suite in March. The en-suite had to use a saniflow, and we went with the plumbers that came through a recommended builder because they said they could get the job done in the time-scale we had. We agreed on the price and when they would be out by. They didn't deliver on time, a week over and it cost us an extra months rent. When they decided to come back, I had the little moron standing in my house telling me that he's had a crappy morning and I'd best not start because he's "not in the mood". I said either take your tools and leave, or get it done today and I take the months rent out of what we owe you.. After messages like "you'd best have the money tonight when I come round or else.." and "I'm warning you, you best have the money in my account.." (This was on the morning of my wedding) Transferred the money, held back £450 to cover not the rent, but what they said the saniflow would cost. (we didn't get it, and they cost £275!)
Now, a month on, "when are you paying the £450 so I can send the boiler safe certificate off?" I refuse to give them this but he'd already told me he sent it off over a month ago.
Can I get one through someone else and will it affect us selling the house in the future?? I've a feeling it'll cost a fortune on an already expensive job.

No, you can't get one from any other company.

What were the reasons that the job over ran. Plumbers or builders?
  • I just sold my house without a certificate, it's not too bad. We paid for indemnity insurance (£9.60) and it's job done.

Sorry to hear about your experience but don't pay £450 for a certificate!

No GSR RGI in their right mind will certify a job done by someone else, because he then becomes legally responsible for any faults...the ones he can't even see.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
