That link is charging £32?!?!?
Its because you get a better service then Orange
my phone was factory unlocked in 3 days and when the link was put on here it was £27
You can't blame them for putting the price up because they are doing orange job for them and it a brilliant service couldn't thought them i would have paid the £32 if i would have to.Only Orange can unlock your handset. What you describe is a jailbreak, which is a false economy - the next firmware update will relock the handset back to Orange again.
I agree O are not efficient, and a bit of a scandal - but there is little point in shooting yourself in the foot simply to spite them, yet pay for a jailbreak tat is free if you know where to look.
Buzby the phone is factory Unlocked NOT Jail-broken and i updated my phone to the new 5.1.1 straight after the unlock also it came up in iTunes that my phone was unlocked.Nobody is Perfect. I am Nobody, therefore I am Perfect.0 -
looks like I am the latest victim or Oranges inability to complete a simple task.0

Reading through this thread and getting a strong sense of deja vu. This unfortunately is all too familiar to me!
I have been trying now for almost 2 months to get my handset unlocked by Orange. Their latest excuse is they are UNABLE to unlock my phone since I do not have an Orange sim card (I am now in Australia and had no intention of paying extortionate international charges -just wanted to put an Australian sim in my handset!)
Any ideas if this is true?
Was fobbed off and told to go to Apple but understand they will say it was locked by carrier and so must be unlocked by them?!0 -

Unlocking an iPhone is just making a change in Apple database that doesn't require the sim to be in the phone. If it's what Orange actually want, they are giving you runaround - typically. Was fobbed off and told to go to Apple but understand they will say it was locked by carrier and so must be unlocked by them?!
I have a theory.
The people offering iPhone unlocking on ebay offer this mostly for the phones locked to Orange/Tmobile. Can they be the same people that give the customers runaround to force them to pay exorbitant prices at ebay? :think:0 -
Interesting theory.
It's now 10 weeks for me and still no contact.
