No - comparable spec machines are typically more expensive to buy, and though they may hold their value better, you're very unlikely to get back more than the extra you paid originally.

But you sound like you've already made your mind up - in which case just buy what you want if you can afford it. Just don't pretend that it's an asset or an investment...

on a £100 shop you might on average get 70 items save
    10p per product = £7 a week ~ £28 a month
    20p per product = £14 a week ~ £56 a month
30p per product = £21 a week ~ £84 a month (or in other words one weeks shoping at the new price)

Just to make things clear I DIDN'T pay £1000+ in one go for a MBA. I only paid £79+.

The Apple Care cost £199 and it's not "free". The "free" 2 years cover from John Lewis (and the one being sold by Apple) does not include theft & loss which PC World has.

For the 3rd time YES I will be paying £500+ more but the benefits are there. I spent over 1 hour asking things and verifying this with the people at PCW.

    Gino,

You've done your deal, so that's the end of it: just move on, as far as that aspect of it is concerned.

Far more important is that you've bought the computer that is right for you, whatever it cost you. Enjoy it. :)

Can you name another laptop made out of chunks of solid aluminium? I can't.

Panasonic Toughbooks - that's why all the service engineering firms like the AA, British Gas, BT etc use them. You chuck a cr|Apple Mac round like a Toughbook and it would be dead in a morning.

cr|Apple is really for those with more money than sense, but it's handy for muggers to pick you out as a victim with money to waste :=>

I had a feeling this would end up being a Windows vs Apple thing with all the !!!!!iness and biased opinions around.

But I appreciate all the concerns and criticisms. It was very insightful & interesting.

I suppose at the end of the day a laptop actually works, easy to use and that you are very comfortable with it. And I believe I got that in the MacBook Air.
