James Wellbeloved Cat Food

I feed both my cats James Wellbeloved dry cat food.

I'm becoming more aware of the cost which is £20.50 for a 4kg bag...

But at the same time the cats are so healthy! They have never been ill.

Am i getting sucked into the packaging here. Are there good supermarket brands for example that are just as healthy/nutritious. As my cats are indoor cats I use the Light version.

I would appreciate some feedback on this please?

Many thanks!

Buying larger bags might work out cheaper I pay £45 for a 10 kilo bag of Royal Canin Maine Coon which mine love. Also you can get cash back and free delivery on many sites such as Zooplus .

Thanks! I got free delivery and used a code which gave me £3.00 off making the total price for two 4kg £37.46...

I imagine thought here must be 'premium' supermarket brands that are good quality and much cheaper though?

I've heard people say Purina is ok but my lot don't like it....
Less stuff, more life, love, laughter and cats!
Even if I'm on the shopping threads, it doesn't mean I'm buying! Sometimes it's good to just look and then hit the CLOSE button!

My Daisy loves the Purina as well as the RC Exigent Flavor,so I normally give her a 50/50 mix of both, which she loves..

Thanks! So what sort of price is the Purina? Do they do a 'light' or 'indoor' version?

If you've room, and spare cash, then the 10KG James Wellbelived is good value. Currently £37.99 from Feedem. They have offers on sometimes. I bought two bags in march for £27.99 each & there's free delivery if you spend over £45.

If you want a quality, competitively priced complete dried cat food it may be worth considering Vitapurr from Vitalin. http://www.vitalinpetfood.co.uk/mall/productpage.cfm/VitalinCompletePetFood/_VitapurrAll/280882/Vitapurr £34.81 for 15 kg including delivery. That is a big bag. (That is £11.60 for 5kg.) You can ask them for a sample bag to try it out. I have fed this in the past and was impressed with it. I think I might contact them again myself to reintroduce it. :money:

They are better known for their dog food an supply more for working dogs than pet market. They have been around for many years so they have a long term reputation. http://www.vitalinpetfood.co.uk/ They do a large range of dog foods very well price eg £15.39 for 15kg delivered. My mother in law fed her dogs on it in the past and they were a picture of health. They also sport the queens royal crest, doesn't that mean that they supply royal dogs their food too?

Sorry but these aren't really any cheaper than the JWB you're currently feeding!

    £20.50 / 4kg = £5.12 / kg

Depending on which type of Purina you feed, they're £5 upwards / kg.

Much better to do as Tallgirl suggests and buy larger bags.

I also do this: £39 for 10kg of RC Light the last time (£3.90/kg) or get them when the 4kg bags are BOGOF (PAH sometimes do this - works out at £3.50/kg)
    Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)
    2016 Sell: £125/£250
    £1,000 Emergency Fund Challenge #78 £3.96 / £1,000
    Vet Fund: £410.93 / £1,000
Debt free & determined to stay that way!
