Three Cancellation
Hi all,
Sorry if this has been posted somewhere else already, but I’m terrified about what I may be charged!
I have a 12 month contract with Three (£15/month) which expires on the 9th of May. I called them today to cancel it as I have found the reception isn’t great in my area. The lady initially said that I should have called on the 9th of April to give them their 30 day notice period for cancellation… I told her that I just wanted to cancel it and after over 30 minutes of arguing she eventually agreed to cancel it but this will only take effect on the 31st of May (30 days after today’s call, final bill on the 11th of June and final payment to be taken on the 22nd of June).
Right at the end of the conversation she drops the bombshell that there will be a cancellation charge as I am cancelling late, but she could not confirm what the amount will be as it is not her department!
I am now absolutely terrified that the charge may be the remainder of a new 12 month contract (so £15 x 12 = £180)! Can anyone help with this or has anyone had previous experience of this? Are they legally allowed to charge me the cancellation for 12 months of non-use? Is there any way I can actually fight this?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Gavin

Calm down. You pay your standard charges for 30 days from today, i.e. until May 31st pro-rata. That's it.
I think part of it is already covered by the last advance payment.0 -

Hi, thank you so much for the prompt reply. If that is the case then that would be great. Really really hoping I don't have to fight them for the full 12 months! Hope you manage to resolve the issue you are having.
If anyone has been in my situation or can offer any more advise, I am keen to hear from you.0
