Kingsmill bread

I bought a loaf of Kingsmill bread and on opening it, the top couple of slices were 'normal' but for about 3/4 of the loaf there was literally a large hole in the slices accounting for half the slice! This must have been caused by a huge air bubble in the dough.
Do you think I have cause to write to Kingsmill and possibly get a refund or is it just 'one of those things' and there's nothing they can do about it?
It's quite funny when I think about it, but as I'm unemployed and have to watch my spending carefully, this is quite a big deal to me.
* before anyone berates me for buying Kingsmill and not cheap own brand bread, I've tried lots of brands but I've found Kingsmill the tastiest and best bread for keeping fresh.:)

If you write to them I'm sure they will refund you, although it may not be worth your effort and postage costs. You could try calling/emailing instead.
On a technical side I'm sure the weight was much less than the "approximate" 800g0 -
Definately got a case for complaint, write them a letter politely asking for a refund. I would imagine they would have no problem offering a refund or giving you a voucher for a free loaf.
Photo evidence would be a bonus if you havent already eaten it. Becuase its made on such a large scale stuff like this is inevitable but shouldnt be accepted by the consumer. Quite surprised it got through quality control as i would imagine the weight would be significantly different?!?!
Anyway yeh send them a letter. Or even more MSE try and find an email adress for customer services!!0 -
Aren't loaves of bread sold by weight?
I imagine you still got your 800 grams of bread, though perhaps not in the texture you would've liked.
By all means complain, but remember that a first class stamp now costs 60p.0 -

I did take a photo but only of the last few slices as we had used most of the loaf before I thought about reporting it.
I wonder if they are weighed in batches? or weighed randomly? as this was definately not a full loaf! lol

Haha, but sending in the batch number (probably on the annoying sticky seal tab) is a good idea to help them out if they had a genuine quality issue. I'd expect you would get £2/3 in vouchers back based on past experiences.0

I wouldn't even bother writing letters etc just take it back to the store you got it from. I can't see them having any issues swapping it.0

I didn't think the store was accountable as it was obviously a fault in the manufacturing which wasn't visible until the package was opened.
The loaf has been used now so I can't take it back.:o
I've just emailed them a nice friendly email.. I will let you know what happens.

Was going to suggest email as well. I had a few mouldy Kingsmill loaves in a short space of time so I emailed them to complain, they sent me vouchers to cover a replacement plus an extra loaf. Having said that I buy Warburtons now as it's much better quality.£2 Savers Club 2011 (putting towards a deposit

Up to you OP what you do, you have the expense of going to the store to get a refund or email KM direct and maybe just maybe you get the cost of the bread plus a bit more. At least if you go to direct to KM they are amde aware of the fault and can rectify it so it doesn't happen in future.
Id email or facebook KM and say your unhappy with the loaf you bought.0
