Not sure if anyone can help and this may sound very under achieving but I once knew a woman who filled envelopes at home with various mailing for a company (don't know name) and got paid for it, they delivered it in boxes to her then took them away to post...does anyone know about this and how to get involved??
I have 4 children (13,11,23mths & 8 weeks), we're desperate for more money and i'm only qualified as a chef and this doesn't interest me anymore but I want to do something thats non taxing to my post pregnancy guff of a brain and something which enables me to stay at home.
Any ideas on the above would be much appreciated.

Julie - not information regarding envelopes - but as you are at jome anyway, do you not fancy being a childminder (even part-time?) - that way you get paid to stay at home . Or what about an ironing business - your propapably have more than enough of your own, but could do this in the time that you would do the envelopes and would pay better.0

hows your english spelling and grammar??? perhaps be a proofreader - there are often adverts in the newspapers (though I dont know how reliable they are...)0

Thanks for the replies so far, I would consider childminding but we rent and under the terms of agreement we're not allowed to make money by using the property, so I don't know if this would account for all home jobs, oh dear maybe I should check this out more thoroughly.
Proof reading would be good but I think you have to do a short course in it as you put shorthand looking symbols etc in the margins....
Yes will investigate further

With a new baby, a toddler and two older kids needing help with homework and no doubt transported to clubs etc the main focus has to be flexibility in whatever you do.You never know when you are going to have the time during the day to focus on work so I think the best bet would be something over the internet. Its open 24 hours a day so there when it suits you.Try self-employment out.Perhaps selling on ebay. Its easy to open a shop there.Do something which you are experienced in, perhaps kitchen or cooking related items or something to do with children such as clothing, books or educational toys. You dont even have to drag the kids to the post office to post the parcels as you can set up a business account with royal mail who will collect the packages from your home either on a regular basis or just whenever you need them to.
You dont need lots of cash to start up with, lots of trade suppliers have a small minimum order requirement of £150-£250.Or you could build up a reserve of start up cash by selling any unwanted items from around the house."Reaching out to touch the stars dont forget the flowers at your feet".0 -
what about making cakes? Or something else that uses your cheffing skills. If you can do wedding cakes then you can make good money without too much outlay. Piecework like envelope stuffing is a lot of work for very little money and is mostly cheaper to do by machine these days...0

Thanks for replies, i like the cake idea, would need to check out rules and regulations for home catering.
Not so keen on the ebay idea as I refuse to go on there now...someone stole my identity and bought £500 quids worth of camera equipment on there and kept getting strange emails about all this other stuff we're supposed to have bought with my username etc...so i stay well away!!"You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view...

Sorry to hear about your identity theft problem, hope you get it all sorted out okay.
The wedding cake idea is really good, something that uses your skills will be more enjoyable and theres definately more money in the wedding market.
Good luck whatever you decide to do."Reaching out to touch the stars dont forget the flowers at your feet".0 -
Home working - not easy, particularly with kids in tow. The wedding cake idea sounds great but dont forget your food hygiene certificate and environmental health check. Neither as bad as they sound but necessary evils. Child minding is not a work from home job excluded from your tenancy agreement. There is government help available and you can earn money while claiming benefits to a higher threshold. You will be restricted with numbers because you have two under 5s that will have to be considered but while you are looking after yours you may as well be paid for it. Good Luck0
