Telewest/Virgin ? free upgrade from 4mb to 8mb BB

Just thought I would let you know - a friend of mine rang to negotiate a deal with telewest/virgin and was told that people with 4mb BB will automatically be upgraded to 8mb in April (I think) at no extra cost:T Don't know if any others are to be upgraded. Anyone else heard anything?

The new 20meg service is coming in Jun , and presumably 10meggers will get upgraded to 20 ?

Just be warned though - I "upgraded" from 1Mb to 8Mb (free of charge) BUT I have since discovered that my line can only deal with speeds up to 2MB. So now I am tied in for a year, with no noticable difference - in fact it's slower if anything!!:rolleyes:

They obviously didnt say that your line couldnt handle more than 2mb

No they didn't! (Foolishly) I thought that I would get a great speed increase up to 8mbs and it was only after I contacted Virgin after my "upgrade", to query the speed, that they referred me to this site:
