The type of the file system is NTFS.
    Cannot lock current drive.
Windows cannot run disk checking on this volume because it is write protected.

That is to be expected. ChkDsk runs after you reboot.

You mentioned that you have an old PC. It is possible you have a floppy disc drive. Check to make sure there isn't a floppy disc in there. Also, go to the BIOS (by pressing F2 usually). Check the Boot order and make sure that the hard drive is set as the first boot drive.

I don't have a floppy drive, its set to boot from the hard drive. I did a scan with Hddscan and every thing is coming as bad does that mean its my hard drive that's the problem?

How were you running Hddscan? from a bootdisk?
You may have a disk problem,

Try running chkdsk from the recovery console without any switches.
    i.e. just type in chkdsk
it should only take a matter of seconds to make the check and report back on the condition and size of the volume.

    Anyway, try this,

Remove any discs from the drives and remove anything plugged into the USB ports.

Re-boot and see if any change or are there any menus being displayed?

If no, just blank screen with cursor, then worth trying to fix the MBR.

Go into the recovery console (you may need to put the disk back in to get that option if not installed on your pc)
At the recovery console prompt type

    fixmbr

there will be warnings but ignore those.
Then re-boot to see if any change, any menus etc..

If still exactly the same, nothing changed,
then go back into the recovery console
    and at the prompt, type

    fixboot

Then re-boot to see if any change.
