I am so proud of myself today. After a little wander around the shops i popped in argos to pick up a new catalogue and managed to get 2 of my boys main presents for under £60.00.My DS1 wanted a razor scooter but at £119.99 i was really reluctant to get him one but in Argos today they had the the exact one he had been asking for reduced from £119.99 to £29.99.Bargain!!!.My DS2 really wanted the Playmobil Schoolhouse but it again was very expensive but again in Argos it was £109.99 reduced to £39.99.Bargain !!!!.I was so impressed with my saving and now cannot wait to see the boys faces on Christmas Day but more importantly was my hubbies reaction when i showed him the receipt and then how much i had saved, now if i get that reaction from the kids it will be fantastic xxx0

Isn't it great when you get bargain...makes me feel good for the whole day LOL
My bargains this week weren't quite on that scale but still happy...got a Bayliss and Harding bubble bath in a glitzy bag for £1.50 and 4 wine glass holders (you can spike them into the ground at BBQ's etc) for just 50p in the charity shop. Both going in DD 'party girl' hamper for Xmas.Stopped smoking 20th October 2012
This year I will have something that resembles a garden and not a building site!0 -

Hi All
This weekend rather than buying xmas bits and bobs, hubby and I have been discussing things we would like to do during December.
This is based on the fact by 1st December I hope to have all presents bought, wrapped and ready to deliver (though I am making such good progress that I hope to be done by 1st Oct) and as hubby and I both work full time it would be good to have the weekends in December freed up for family things.
We have categorised it into, things we always do, things we want to do this year that we have done previously and new things to possibly try.
1) Things we always do...
Put tree up as a family with xmas music on on the 1st weekend of Dec.
Buy this years Disney bauble (usually late Oct/early Nov)
Go to the school xmas fair and spend far too much money on the homemade cake stall
Go to Mcr Xmas Market (Gluvein/bratwurst etc) then come home and all watch 'ELF'
Give the kids a hamper each on xmas eve, and stay in watching xmas movies, till teatime then go out for tea at Pizza Hut (We have suggested other places and the kids say No!)
2) Things we have done in the past that we need to do again this year.
Get DS a lego advent calendar
Make own mince pies / chocolate log etc
Go to a pantomime
Go to an outdoor xmas themed event (Gullivers World? Tatton Park?)
Have a boxing day party for all the family
3) New things to try
Book the snow room at the local ski place (to do snow angels etc)
Then I draw a complete blank and can't think of anything else, Any ideas???? We probably do, or have done previously, more than this but this is all I could think to write down.
Apologies that this is such a long rambling list. You have probably noticed I haven't put 'see santa' on the list. DD is 13 and DS in 9 so neither of them ask to see him, but he does always seem to pop up in some of the places we go anywayAims for 2014

We have a tradition of going to a local outdoor ice skating rink on Xmas Eve. It's magical skating with the Xmas tunes on in the back ground.0

I'm thinking along the same lines BBthree. Hoping to be all done and enjoy:) might borrow some of your ideas. I'm in Manchester too. Lovvve the Christmas markets. I love to go to the Christmas displays at all in one garden centre or similar. Last year went to Bents the very best Father Christmas I've ever seen. He was magical, had our two DGDs with us just looking at the displays ooohing and aaawwing and He appeared with a basket of chocolate buttons in a wicker basket, talked to the girls then whisked away again. Magical. XThe secret of Christmas
It's not the things you do at Christmastime
But the Christmas things you do

Spent most of this weekend hunting the cheapest prices on certain toys I want for our youngest and happy to say once a couple have been collected from Argos and the rest delivered then apart from her stocking she's finished! (now just our other four children to go!)
Decided I want to make them a sock monkey each for their stockings so better start now as I'm the most unskilled crafty person and will probably be a disaster but may as well give it a go.
I love reading everyone's posts on what they've bought, ideas etc makes me feel normal after continually being told I'm mad to be even thinking of Xmas now!0 -

Hey Nanamia - another local, we can share ideas : )
OMG I can't believe I forgot to add Bents Garden Centre to the list. We went last year for the first time and I think I just spent the whole of the time in there just saying WOW! It is a truly amazing place and we were in there for about 4 hours totally entralled. The only downside is we all wanted to buy EVERYTHING!
Another garden centre that used to have a good xmas area (though we haven't been for a few years) is Barton Grange. There's also that garden centre that has the little traintrack in Stockport, I wonder if they do anything christmassy with it?Aims for 2014
