I am shattered. I just can't sleep.
Dd has been invited to Oz next Christmas with a friend and her family. I think it is playing on my mind, although I am not worried about it. If that makes sense.
I am going to let her go, as it could be her only chance ever to visit there.
So next Christmas is going to be a really quiet one, just me and ds.
I have been thinking up ways to make some extra money to help pay for the trip. (Doh ! It is most probably that, that is playing on my mind.)
Anyway I have decided to do some craft fairs around the area I work. I am going to sell homemade novelty gifts. It is quite nerve racking really. All of my friends have said the gifts I am thinking of are great, but they are my mates.:rotfl:
I have found so many great things to make on my link quest, that I thought that if I am going to make them as gifts, I can make some extra and sell them. Well hopefully.
I bought loads of cookie cutters today, and ordered a cupcake case template. It's spending money, not knowing if I will get any back that is bothering me. With saving for dd trip,I can't really afford to waste any.
I am sure it will be alright, but I kept seeing myself standing at a stall, with nobody even looking at my things._pale_...
It's a great idea I notice people seem to go mad for home made stuff now since Kirsty alsopp and the like its all become so popular again
I'm sure you wouldn't be standing at a empty store perhaps at your first go you could get some friends and family to come and support you . i always think a store that looks busy attracts more people0 -
I hope you get a good night s sleep tonight0

chirpychick those comments really annoy me too! only because I think what right do they have to spoil anyone being happy about something, just cos they happen to think its 'too far away'!! shouldnt they be happy you are happy? not moaning about it and trying to bring you down! bl00dy miserable gits! at least you are hapopy and smiling, they are grinches!
I had an idea for Christmas cakes for kids or those who don't like fruit cake, in M&S they do lovely boxed rolls which are basically slighlty posh swiss rolls! in all different flavours, I love the jam and buttercream one, they are 1.49 but 2 for £2, I wondered about getting the lemon, apricot or jam one (they are plain sponge and lovely and light) and getting the kids to put the Betty Crocker vanilla frosting on it to make a Snow Roll? can decorate with pretty Christmas stuff, and use the chocolate frosting to make a Yule Log on the chocolate or coffee oneI can vouch for them being absolutely lush, and the BC tubs of frosting still on offer 1/3 off in Sains.
What a good ideaI can vouch for how yummy they are we used to get some for birthdays at work delicious ! I think. Will do the choc log one

You could buy the nursery a nice new similar set and ask to swap them!
I was going to suggest same. Am sure they would let you have it, if she really loves it. You could get them something they really need, in return (and maybe buy two, lol, in case she takes a liking to that as well...)Bossymoo

It's pay day tomorrow :j
Going to buy a new bottle of vodka and am going to make the Glacier Mint Vodka. My Toffee Vodka is chilling and thickening quite nicely in my freezer.
Want to buy some bath bombs and massage bars from Lush. I know I can buy then cheaper elsewhere but I love Lush and they are really nice. I'd like the £100 box for Christmas but the likelyhood of me getting it....................................:p
I bought the five boxes for £20 from Thorntons. One was DD1's advent calender. Hopefully I'll be able to get more vouchers by Christmas.0 -

Ive read the Julia Williams one, I really enjoyed it and its a good book, but it actually starts with them taking down Christmas decs at New Year, then follows their fortunes over the year until the next Christmas, so it isnt all set at Christmas, only a small part, but I did enjoy it.
The Carole Matthews book is all at Christmas, it starts with her in Tesco filling her trolley, getting stuff organised early, reminded me of us! Christmas songs in the background etc, other people being grinchey - she really should join our thread! It's a lovely book and an interesting story and set of characters, so would really recommend it, it's fab so far and one I would keep re-reading a bit like Twelve Days
Thank you for these helpful comments, I've taken the Julia Williams one off my wishlist and replaced with the Carole Matthews one!Hobnobs are like marines0 -

Maybe you could make some extra things & sell them on eBay (as well as at some stalls) that way you'll hopefully raise some extra cash & buying the start up stuff will be worth it.0 -
Does anyone know if Sainsburys are planning on doing 3 for 2 on their Christmas gifts? I'm sure they usually have the 3 for 2 offers on by now so hoping this isn't going to go the same way as the toy sale otherwise Sainsburys will be well & truly off my Christmas card list :-)0
