We're flying to the UK tomorrow evening. My aunt has died and we need to go to her funeral.

It makes sense to do some Christmas type stuff while we're there, but I don't think my heart is in it.

Thank you. I'm a bit worried, my daughter is named after this aunt (we were close) and I don't know how to explain that there will be lots of people saying how sad it is about [Name] when my small bean with the same name is right there. But we don't have babysitting options for the funeral because all our family will be there.

Could your husband stay away with her? When dh dad passed away last year he has to gi alone as it would have been an overnight stay and we had no childcare. I wanted to be there to support him but we decided it would be better if he went alone as funerals just ain't no fun for kids, well anyone but yoy get my gist xxxx

We're in Germany and the funeral is in rural Wales. We can't get flights for under €1000 on Thursday so are flying in on Wednesday night, but it is still a 4 hour drive from my parents to the funeral, plus funeral, plus back. My parents have a dog who can be aggressive when his primary pack leaders (my parents) are gone, so leaving DH and DD with it for 12+ hours is not really an option. I am hoping they can stay outside for the ceremony, but we don't really have the option to leave her behind (the not breaking the bank flight option was Wed-Sun and I wouldn't go away by myself for that long).
