Oh gosh emalou, what a sad, sad thing to happen. I mostly lurk on this thread as it moves very fast, but I did want to pass on my condolences.

I am looking forward to Xmas, but also expecting some sadness. We lost my hubby 5wks before last Xmas, so the anniversary is looming, but I do want to make it nice for the little ones. Hence asking about the elf. Not sure my youngest will really "get it" but DS, who is nearly 4 will love it!

havent done the elf but there are many here who do so they will be able to give you some fab ideas!

am so sorry for your loss too, we will try and help you through if we can xx

  • Trying to get back into Christmas after a few hiccups.

Found out my son is going to be out of action for at least three months with his legs in plaster/splints/callipers for corrective surgery. Good news is they are letting him do his dance exams first (desperate to be a dance teacher). Not so good news the treatment starts beginning Of December so I now have to adapt everything for him to move downstairs for a few months! Wish they done it when he was little, at fifteen and him being far taller than me I can see it being quite comical trying to lift him!

Now I need to have a search for these Yankee candles, think I need to treat myself.
  • Tried to get the Sylvanian Bluebell cottage from Mr T but it's out of stock at minute. Asked for e mail alert so fingers crossed.
Going into town today to look at fleeces at Prim*rk - there is a strong chance they may fall into my basket.
The kids will go nuts as I have probably 8 large boxes of Christmas Decs but come the 1st Dec they will all be here pulling them all out and deciding on colour scheme for this year.
I have also collected the Christmas star from Swarovski since 2000 and they take pride of place on the tree. Eventually I think that's all we will be able to hang.

poor him and poor you! I hope it goes as smoothly as possible for you

Somebody mentioned Scented Candle Shop online yesterday as being very good, I ordered with them yesterday, very good prices and low p+p if that's any help
  • Don't know if im wrong or not(could someone confirm) but do you have to be careful with Vistaprint and make sure you uncheck a box somewhere as sure there was some problems a while back with them subscribing people to membership with them and debiting their cards with it.I could be wrong but a bell went off in my head when i read the name x

Hope not!! Just made 2 orders?!? I think studio 24 automatically sets up a credit account if you dont untick a box. I paid through paypal anyhow so hopefully I'm not a member :(

I managed to catch up yesterday but fell asleep before I could reply.

<<hugs>> to emmalou and everyone else who needs them.

Soo gutted I am now not living in Colchester as woulda loved to have joined you all at Hearts Delight - it's a bit of a trek back from Sheffield tho.
And Bents is too far in the other direction.

have got a few more bits for sisters pasta hamper - 2 bags of differnet type pasta on 2 for £1.50 in Asda. Also as mum said she's hoping not to still be religiously following WW by then so have got a normal pasta ideas book for £2.99 in WHSmith. They have lots of very cheap cook books in there at the moment.

Also picked up some more sweeties for my dads hamper in poundland.

Think I may do my nanna/ grandad a bird hamper. As home bargains/ poundland have lots of nuts/ sead balls etc. maybe cross stitch a bird picture. put a couple of mugs with birds on in it. Will make a change from chocolate/ biscuits/ wine.
loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:

I'm sooooo jealous of you getting twilight tickets! I can't wait to see it, but I will have to wait until it's actually out and see if i can afford it.
I've watched all the others the night they came out, So I'll be gutted this year if I'm not first in the cinema line with my fist shoved in my mouth out of excitement.:rotfl:

ME TOO!!! I am slightly Twilight obsessed but baby is due 30th November and I have started to develop some complications so we are expecting him to arrive early. Therefore, for me it will be a matter of booking it the night before with the hopes I don't end up going into labour within 24 hours lol and that it isnt sold out . But I have a feeling he will already be here by the 16th  so it will be one I may have to miss at the cinema - all the way along hubby has been saying its a race baby first or twilight first lol at the moment I think baby is winning!
(but just incase anyone thinks im a complete nutcase obviously the health and wellbeing of the baby is 1billion times more important than a film) it has just been a long running joke.

It was my hubbys birthday yesterday, he got some money and has decided he wants to buy a nintendo wii rather than a mobile phone. He has seen one on e3ay that is local collection. He doesn't quite have enough money so as I have some put aside im going to top it upto what he needs and also get monopoly streets for him. (This instead of doing something extra for him at Christmas as I think he will need about another £20-£30 so will tell him its part of his Christmas present).

We went to town and I had to rest twice on a seat because of the pain im in now (along with horrendous cold which is still lingering as well as all my other ailments lol) whilst out I was SO NAUGHTY I brought myself a thick winter cardi from n3w look it was £14 in the sale  much more than id normally spend but it has reindeers on and everything :T it isn't on their website and they only had 2 in the shop it is black and white and very chunky. I also managed to get some joggers for £5 from Asda. I have been getting increasingly desperate for clothes. I don't want to spend too much money or i wont have any left but think im going to have to look into getting 1 or 2 more tops to see me through.

I have to go back to m&s tonight to take something back and as we will be there anyway going to nip into Tesco and pick up our a few bits for Christmas as from now on ill have to do it online and there are some things i would rather pick myself than order online without seeing them first.

Has anyone ever brought the £5 Turkey frozen thing from Tesco before? I was thinking of buying this instead of beef to save some money as it would be just the right size for the 2 of us on Christmas day with some leftovers.
Everything is always better after a cup of tea

Hello festive mse'ers. Do any of you know where I can get a magic elf? We would love one to come and stay for advent...

    Many thanks

I got ours from Home sense, Which is the home part of TKmax, so i presue tkmax stock the same items if your town doesnt have a home sense?. Its a plush one, and its fairly large, around 20inch (i think) but its absolutely beautiful, they had boys and girls every year ive been and theyre only £9.99 . HTH :)
I love doing the elf things with DS and we started when he was 4 so if you do get one and find yourself stuck for idea's on things he/she can do please feel free to ask :)

I managed to get DS another xmas present today from tesco, A medium sized star wars lego set for £4.75! Total bargain, there was only one left on the shelf and i grabbed it so fast I probably looked like a blur to other people! I saw a woman a few minutes later look at the label and have a nosy for one, then notice it in my basket, she didn't look happy that she didnt get one but oh well :o.

All your talk of yankee candles must of seeped into my brain because in tesco all i kept looking at were candles today and having a good sniff of the yankee's even though they were all summer fragrances, And although not yankee's my nosying paid off because I managed to get 3 packs of 30 tea lights that are christmas spiced berry scented for 62p each! Normally £2.99 each pack so I'm delighted.
And a pack of winter spice berry oils for my oil burner reduced to 23p! Instead of over £3 .
Also got another candle in a large jar that should of been £9.99 for £1.23, It's the heaven scent range by wax lyrical. If anyone has heard of it? They make quite expensive candles like yankee, this one is the ice cream sundae scented one and it smells amazing!

So all in all, I'm having quite a good day thanks to tesco :D
    Having a coke with you
is even more fun than going to San Sebastian, Irun, Hendaye, Biarritz, Bayonne
or being sick to my stomach on the Travesera de Gracia in Barcelona
