ISA from Halifax

I tried to open an ISA with the Halifax a month ago online. I was told I had to do it by telephone (my nearest branch is 40miles away). On the phone answering questions for half an hour. I appeared to be unknown to them even though I had an ISA with them three years ago. As requested sent documents through the post together with a cheque for the full amount. I received a letter stating that they had taken photocopies of the documents and they had been passed over to customer service. Over three weeks later and two unsuccessful phone calls it appears that nothing is happening and no-one can help me to get the cheque cashed and the isa opened. I have now given up. What a useless bunch of people.
