New job not going so well

How was today OP ?
Today was OK, don't get me wrong the works crap but the people are friendly, but even today I got the "Why did you come here?" what surprises me is there doesn't seem to be any politics, no ball licking or back stabbing, the boss is such a horrible person no one even tries, everyone is in the !!!!! together, of the 3 people that started yesterday, I am the only one still there.0 -
Best piece of advice I ever got was "Any job is a means to an end" and that was from my boss at the time!
Look towards what you WANT to be doing and look on this one as a step closer towards that end.
Yes it may be boring as hell, but if it helps you get a car, tools or anything else you need to move on then it will have served its purpose."Whether you think you can, or you think you can't -- you're right" - Henry Ford0 -
WOW don't you feel this is a tad unfair? ... made redundant, young family to keep, very little going, takes the first job to come along, not great, making the most of it.... Don't you think that this is what these boards are for, so you can get things off your chest, get some support, and not burden your family with the stress!
I expected the response before I posted it, but did feel better getting it of my chest.0 -
You only get one life and every second spent miserable is every second lost. I'd just go and find the job of your dreams, plain and simple.0

My personal opinion is yes it sounds like you're in a crap job. That said, A job is better than no job at all (unless you're depressed then nothing is going to make you feel better in reality). The thing you have to decide is what is best for you? - Having a job and then being able to move from that to something else OR having no job and being stuck out of work because everyone thinks you're useless because you're out of work.Imagine having a camera focusing on you all day, with the boss watching to make sure your working!! Never in any job have I had that until now.
Don't whinge. I've had this in many jobs. I've been a CEO for two councils (traffic warden), had cameras on me in almost every street, have to be selective about anything I say that could make the authority look bad, never handling bits of paper in case you're accused of taking bribes etc. THAT is pressure. You're not only a uniformed officer but a uniformed officer the public love to hate and would love to stitch up (and believe me, they do try!). If you think you've got it bad having a camera watching you all day then I'm sorry but you really do need to realise that this is the 21st century and most employers do it. Unless you have something to hide you shouldn't even be worried about it. All the time its there it's your witness to being a good employee. Believe it or not some companies even RECORD AUDIO too.
Seriously, your gripe about having a camera watching you is laughable. Many people put up with it on a daily basis - it's part of every day life. You go into the supermarket and are on at least 6 cameras at the same time - has that ever bothered you? - You pay THEM to do it too - at work they pay YOU to be on their cameras.
I must commend you on pointing out one thing though - ar$£hole bosses do tend to make a better and friendlier team of employess than soft bosses that everyone sucks up to. Soft bosses encourage back stabbing and grassing in order for people to try and get up the ladder. Waster bosses are hated by so many of the staff they all team up and stick together. My last boss was like that, no-one liked him yet it made most of the team pull together. The place before that the boss was a decent enough bloke as a person but as a manager he was so open to stirrers and back stabbers that it could make life hell for some of us who he then thought should be punished for no reason.0 -

I never really thought about cameras in that way before, I was just never used to it, the main and only purpose it serves is to monitor us, In a supermarket they have a variety of uses, shop lifters, robberies etc, I don't think there main purpose it to monitor staff? I may be wrong though.
But yes an !!!!!! of a boss really has killed any politics and back stabbing, its great that everyone is on a level playing field, no one is better than anyone else etc etc and as I say everyone is friendlier for it and they don't have an alterer motive.0 -

And don't forget your magic wand while you're at it!0 -
Tbh I thought you were just moaning for the sake of it but if the other two left and u haven't then fair play to you and stick at it...use it as a stepping stone to the next thingThe Googlewhacker referance is to Dave Gorman and not to my opinion of the search engine!
If I give you advice it is only a view and always always take professional advice before acting!!!
4 people on the ignore list....Bliss!0 -
Don't rush into anything falko89, you've only been at the job two days. Stick with it if you can but keep on trying your hardest to get a better job, maybe even your dream job. And don't knock a friendly, level-playing field team to work with. I've been in a crap job in the past where I was bullied and stabbed in the back by my colleagues and everyone else sucked up big time to the supervisor. I still have nightmares about it nearly twenty years on.0

Nearly friday anyhoo! Are you not pleased with yourself you made it back when the 2 others didn't? Hope you find something more enjoyable soon. At least the people are nice, makes so much difference!!! A rubbish job can become enjoyable with good people. Nothing worse than working with sour faced people! Is it mon-fri 9-5? Well done for sticking it out!0
