I got 43.5mpg from my 1.6l petrol auto 2008 focus on a recent 120 mile run on a mix of A roads and motorway. I did drive like my granny though - driving normally on the same route yields around 39mpg0

Yes, because that's how real life works :rotfl: relying on others for a lift when you have a car, really? you know people that do this? im sure they are in the minority, jogging 5 miles to tesco at 10pm for a pint of milk
Im sure all the things that the OP uses the car for can be condensed down in to a day or two, bettys birthday bash on Friday can be brought forward to Tuesday, just so the op can go to the carboot just before, to save a few quid in petrol.
Really some people live on a different planet.0 -
...Kala was saying that if you can walk/jog rather than take the car, why not do so? Same as if one can combine say two separate work commitments that would otherwise mean two separate journeys to one day if they're near each other, why not?
That's exactly it. As I said above, a guaranteed way of reducing consumption is to use the car less, if it's possible to do so. Whether that's by walking etc instead of driving or just planning ahead to combine two journeys in to one, it will all help.No trees were killed to send this message, but a large number of electrons were terribly inconvenienced. - Neil deGrasse Tyson (@neiltyson)0 -

I've done that. Forgot my wallet, I've had to spend the emergency MacDonalds money in the sunvisor just to get home.0 -
He had his wallet with him. Maybe the all of the other pound notes in there was to pay for other "fuel"0
