Built-in Kitchen Appliances - Bosch, Neff or someone else?

Options
Hi - first post, so be nice...

Mrs Not-so-much-on-a-budget is Kitchen shopping. Got two reasonable quotes from local firms, but each has their preferred partner for appliances. We're after reasonable quality, but don't need top-of-range.

I've heard that Bosch and Neff are part of the same group now, so maybe it doesn't matter which. If you have any experience of either - please share!

Thanks
Ade

  • You wont go wrong with any of these brands. They are all made in the same factories.

Bosch is generally positioned as the value brand, Neff as the cooking brand and Siemens as the style brand and features added or removed from one or the other brands based on this broad principle. For instance the Circotherm feature, slideaway door and Nefflight as available only on Neff. Siemens appliances are more stylish.

Buy what you like. An entry spec appliance from these brands is still better than a higher spec appliance from a lesser brand. Dont forget, these brands are also back with excellent customer service.

ive got neff fridge, freezer, dishwasher (been repaired on warranty once), single oven, combi oven (dont think its worth the expense), hood, induction hob (love it!)

neff customer service was rubbish when i called them about the dishwasher, but we've got it sorted now. apart from that, its all good stuff

I would look at Bosch over Neff, only reason being imo i think there ovens look nicer.
Hotpoint have a new line called 'LUCE' also nice to look at in design aspects but more costly than bosch.
Never used Hotpoint myself only had neff in last kitchen andd Bosch in present one

When bought our Bosch built in convection, we were told the Neff and Siemens were exactly the saem machines with a different front panel.

Unfortunately it keeps on packing up, same with their kettles. The fridge has an earth leakage problem as well.

But Hotpoint is supposed to have gone downhill since being bought by Indesit. I have been pretty lucky with them so far but I bought my longlasting appliances before 2006. The only appliance bought after that, only lasted 5 years.

That's not entirely accurate. There are differences consistent with the brand positioning. They are built on the same platforms and have a large number of components. Perhaps fair to say that they are about 85-90% identical.

Very happy with all our Bosch built-in appliances - now nearly 3 years old.

I'd suggest shopping round for your appliances. Also try and see them too - I was very surprised at the difference in usable space and shelf spacing inside the ovens for example.

Cant really go too wrong with Bosch/Neff/Siemens though you are largely paying extra for style if you go for Neff/Siemens, though a few bits will we better quality.

AEG are a decent Bosch alternative.

From both repute and personal experience I would avoid Hotpoint. Gone seriously downhill since Indesit bought them.
  • Ikea do a 5 yr warranty on their appliances :) Built by Whirlpool for them. That's what I have just kitted out my kitchen with, except the washer dryer which they didn't do as an integrated so I went with a Hoover as I'd previously had the non-integrated seperates of the same & had no issues in 3-4yrs with either!

How does the Neff/Bosch brand compare with Gorenje brand? Our local Company says you only get 2 years warranty with Neff and Bosch whereas you get 5 years with Gorenje which do a more stylish and more value for money brand. Is this true? i dont want to go wrong.
