BT Broadband - no longer standalone.

Its not for me, but a BT Basic customer has to pay for broadband & calls but not get the calls....rather unfair for a "social telephony service" not to discount the BBfor no calls or just apply the calls, its not like Ofcom would stop BT either way - the "add on" service has been paid for afterall, or discount the bundle for the non calls allowance.SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe

If you call the number i posted in your other thread (0800 800 030 option 1) that team can discount stand alone BT Broadband. You have to call and ask on that number as non of the offers are available online.0 -
I will do Syko, but I await the replies from Ofcom & BT, really these need to be on the website with the other BT plans to give those who are indeed available to choose BT Basic all the info they need & not hidden away in the depths of BT or on the website at all. Local authorities & social workers &charities in my region are not even aware these exist for vunerable groups - that goes against why Ofcom forced social telephone service in the first place, BT should not be hiding all this info from the public on its website given Ofcom the regulator made them do this in the first place. If you call the number i posted in your other thread (0800 800 030 option 1) that team can discount stand alone BT Broadband. Its gets worse:
I have tried in vain online &
through customer services to get pricing
costs for BT Basic and BT Broadband -
since the removal of BT Broadband as a
standalone package your staff seem to be
perplexed IF 1)these products are
compatable (why not?) 2) if only non BT
Broadband can be ordered on a BT Basic
line rental with or without BT Vision 3)
Costs of these products if the order
CAN be placed as FULL pricing would not be
applicable due to the "bundled" call
allowances would not be usable on BT Basic
(or would it be staff question)
Could you inform myself of the above, state
so on the BT Basic website & train
YOUR staff in these matters, trying to find
this information out from the UK's
BIGGEST communications company - a absolute
communicative failure, moreso as
most who qualify for BT Basic are in a "at
risk" group of society.
Included to
Ofcom as a complaint on the matter of
abuse of monopoly power - 1) BT Vision is
some consumers only access to BBC
iplayer(etc)& freeview with the costs of
digital switchover (basic £40
DigitalUK costs grant do not cover my Freesat
installation costs nor can I
afford Virgin or Sky on DWP benefits) 2)BT are not
considering this to be
parmount to denial of service etc - Removal of
standalone BT Broadband for BT
Basic customers with BT trying to force such
customers onto £14.60 a month line
rental to get BT Broadband activated by
removal of BT Broadband as a standalone
product & such products for sale ONLY
with full line rental. On both counts BT
are not ensuring but excluding the
most vunerable groups of society from
Digital & Internet inclusion, why is BT
failing such consumers with Ofcom
approval ?
Regards,
(EDIT: dunno why that posted funny above??) Sent to BT & Ofcom in same email.

It might be worth knocking the BTVision idea on the head and seeing what free Internet TV can offer. Youview might eventually get of the ground some time soon, but perhaps a computer that can offer access to tvcatchup.com, and a decent internet connection from anyone cheaper than BT is the way to go?0

Thanks for the offer David the complaint is now with the appropriate government minister against BT & Ofcom's failures to implement Basic with full transparency. When HLC dont even know to disclose the the facts & costs & Ofcom are aware of such well you both have to be held accountable.BT_company_representative wrote: »Hi diamonds

It's for ease of use Stuart, the person requiring such has long term chronic health issues & technology is too complicated for them, best just a remote control to access. It might be worth knocking the BTVision idea on the head and seeing what free Internet TV can offer. BT excludes Vision from Basic users with BT Broadband anyway, which I have complained to the ministers is exclusion from full access to DIGITAL UK in itself, & for the most vunerable group of society as BT & Ofcom know given Basic was implemented for that group
