Is Nildram broadband any good? Need short term contract

Hello - I would be grateful for any advice
I came to the end of my contract with Pipex a while ago but because I am in "fluid" circumstances I haven't done anything about it, despite currently paying a ridiculous £23.44 a month for a 1meg (though unlimited usage) service.
There is a strong chance that I will be moving out of my rented place within a few months to live with my boyfriend who already has broadband, so I wouldn't be able to take my broadband with me.
My problem is that ISPs want me to sign up with them for at least 12 months, and expect me to pay the remainder of the contracted term if I leave early. Being a full-time degree student I cannot afford to pay for a service I will no longer be receiving.
Pipex has provided excellent connectivity (although customer service has sadly taken a nosedive within the last few months) and I believe Nildram, being part of Pipex, may also have a robust network. A reliable connection is very important to me.
Nildram offers a monthly contract which appeals greatly. I do not need unlimited usage - I need to be able to surf and send/receive emails only, with the odd download here and there.
Alternatively - do other ISPs allow you to leave contracts early with only a set fee (eg £50) being payable?
Sorry for the garbled post - I'm getting well confused now!
Thanks

No personal experience, but a colleague of mine has broadband through Nildram and is very happy with it. we both work in IT so he knows what he is on about and spent some time choosing a supplier when Broadband was finally available where he lives. It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die0 -
Go with Zen, I've just gone back to them after a bad time with Nildram, whose service has nose-dived since being bought by Pipex.0

I moved from Plus.net to Nildram, from what I have found out so far teh customer service is OK'ish the phone is answered quickly but then it is an 0870 number for support (so I expectto have my query answered quickly!!)
I do think the speed of the service is lacking in something! I am on the 2MB service and my line is averaging about 1MB, when you consider I was getting approx 4MB witgh plusNet on ADSLMAX. Teh service I am on is a max of 2MB with NILDRAM BUT I have yet to do a speed test were I achieve 2MB speeds with them
If you are looking for a short term ISP I would seriously look at PLus.net, I still hold them in high reguard!!! and I will be moving back to them ASAP...0 -
Yes we have Nildram- great service, nice and quick, and phone is usually answered relatively quickly.0

I like the information on this site, especially the "Compare" link on the left:

Hope you find it useful. Supanet seem to be getting good reviews, and I think they will move you from one address to another free of charge, even though it is a 12 month contract.
