If you want cheaper ones I would recommend trying Shoe Tailor/SimplyBe/JDWilliams etc ( same group of companies) and you couold get 20% off your first order.
For longer term wear I have New Balance extra wide walking trainers, they are fab and did not need breaking in on my hobbit feet. But they cost £90
Good choice of styles and prices here...

Hope you have a lovely holiday!0 -
thanks everyone - if I can just check a few points out:
Anything i buy must have removable insoles..
Are 'Brooks' running shoes or wallking shoes?
New Balance walking trainers sounds a very distinct possibility if you can get wide ones,£90 is fine, can these be bought in sports stores or specialist running shops or where? They def have removable inserts?
Will go mail order if I have got to, but when you have awkward feet thats the least best thing to do, but sadly, sometimes the only thing to do. I get buy with Hotter shoes and they have started a new properly wide range, but sadly no trainers.
Saucony trainers never heard of them. I live in Essex, can anyone recommend a good shop eg the sort that does wallking trainers as well as running shoes, in Essex or London?
Unfortunately I dont do too well in walking boots, becuase they are a bit higher they catch my ankle becuase my foot rolls over in spite of orthotics
I sound a sad case, but in fact with orthotics my feet dont hurt so with right shoes can walk miles but its just finding them. I have a normal narrow heel so going up in size doesnt help - the shoes just slip at the back, made worse by the fact that orthotics take some of the depth of the shoe away!!
Thanks for all the help you are givingme! Hilary.0 -

Saucony, Brooks, Asics and I think New Balance as well all can be found at Runners Need.
If your wearing orthotics trainers may mess with this as most have an insole which is designed to act like orthotics do so its best to get professional advice on this- speak to your physio, mine told me I did not need to wear my orthotics with my trainers as they were already designed for my over pronation (where my foot rolls inwards as I run).
Your best getting them fitted, I know its cheaper online but do you really want to put a price on your feet/health?
The above are all trainers but also have a walking trainer variety too, again, check runners stores and out-door stores. If you go to Runners Need they will be able to direct you to the sort of store your looking for which are essentially a more upmarket version of Millets.
Again: You really need to try them on and be fitted as if your not used to buying this sort of shoe and need it for long walks your likely not to be sure of what your looking for and it would be easy to make a mistake: buying them too small or ill suited and so wasting your money and possibly causing more injuries, this is the reason those stores exist: because they serve a purpose by offering personal advice on what is best suited and knowing what they are talking about.0 -
I have wide feet and struggle to get shoes to fit, but I got Nike running shoes in my local Nike outlet store and they are divine - the comfiest thing I put on my feet......
My battered old orthotics (really should get a new set) fit in them perfectly...:jFlylady and proud of it:j0 -
i coulnt agree more about having shoes fitted, the very sad thing is that the worse your feet are (and if your feet are very wide like mine its usually because of faulty mechanics) the more you need properly fitted shoes. But the less you are likely to get them in todays market. The independents who have done their best over the years are now largely gone. I can only wear lace ups now (usually from Hotters) withthe orthotics but leather lace ups no good for walking over fields etc
So, with New Balance for example, are they just a flat shoe if you take the insole out or have they some sort of inbuilt system which would mess with the orthotics - I would get nowhere without my orthotics which allow me to walk without pain.
So frustrating without shoes for the job can't walk - with shoes for the job happy for 10 miles or so!
Really what I am looking for is the sort of trainers you get from Clarkes but a bit wider, not making claims to make you run a particular way etc.
Would New Balance walking ones or any of the others mentioned, fit that bill? Sorry to be so persistent, everyone v helpful, its just SO frustrating!0 -

Your Nike shoes, they are ok for walking not just running? Could you be really kind and see whatt model they are? I thought Nike were quite skinny shoes?0 -
I have very wide "duck feet" (I don't mean I have webbed toes, rather that the toe end of my foot is very wide compared to my heel).
I always wear New Balance or Nike to run in, most of the time I can't even get Asics, Adidas and Reebok on my feet let alone run in them.
You can usually get a good range of New Balance and Nike at Sports Direct around the £40 mark, they do do walking shoes in some of the bigger stores although I have no direct experience of those.0 -
yes, my feet are duck feet too ! Good description I will def look at New Balance (if you can take the insoles out) and Nike0

I moved over to running shoes rather than trainers on the advice of a neighbour who does a lot of running and has done for years. He said I would find them more comfortable - he was not wrong.
I am wearing a Womens Air Citrus+ 3MSL.
The sole inside is removable.
They are sooo comfy - and I have really wide feet and am difficult to fit normally..:jFlylady and proud of it:j1 -
DBShoes all have removable inners to accept orthotics, not traditional trainers but they do lace up and velcro fastening shoes which would pass as good walking shoes for you...
