We are going to Jersey in a couple of weeks and I need some new trainers as we are planning to do some walking.
Usually have the Clarks ones but have problem feet and really they are no longer wide enough. If I go up another half size they will slip at the back..... Bad bunion and flat feet - I take out the insoles and put my orthotics in
Hotter now do a wider fitting trainer but I dont reallly find their shoes particularly wide - like the Clarks ones Ihave to break them in!
Does anyone know of a good sports shoe shop perhaps in London where I can get wider trainers, or any makes that come up a bit wider than standard? I dont want walking boots as I havent really got time to get used to them and I am having a bunion op in a few months so dont want to spend a fortune and then the shoes are no longer the right fit.
Trainer sandals no good as have to wear the orthotics.
I love walking and it so annoys me how difficult footwear has become!
Many thanks

Have you tried Runners Need or Run and Become? Also out-door stores (names escape me...) there are a few dotted around London that I know of if you want names but I'd suggest going to proper stores like these as they are more likely to be able to help.
Where trainers come in, it tends to be more of the fashiony labels that have slimmer cut shoes, possibly because your not supposed to run in them (feet swell when you run) or possibly because they are aimed at teenagers who have naturaly slimmer feet (feet grow longer and then fill out as you get older).
Running stores will have more info on what to go for as they know their products well, I know New Balance have a wider foot trainer but no doubt others do too. I know from my experience that Nike Trainers are far narrower then Asics and Saucony, but thats my own experience and a store would know much more about this then me.0 -
Brooks makes a wide fitting ladies running shoe. Not cheap but they feel like heaven. Honest.0

I have super wide feet so I can sympathise. I usually buy men's trainers as they are generally wider and as I am a size 6 they are often in the sales. Otherwise I go for Evans or Marisota (online) as they cater for wide feet and I do not need to go up a size there. Not too expensive either.

Try the New Balance on-line shop they do wide fittings0

thanks folks, keep it coming am trying to avoid online as the more difficult your feet are the harder to get right thing - nevertheless its a good option if I can grit my teeth and send shoes backif no good,
New Balance ok for walking in - not just running- am not looking to run
Brooks is interesting, have never heard of them, where are they bought?
Thanks again everyone0 -
Brooks will be available in any running shop, or online, and some more general sports shops.
I'm another woman with wide feet who goes for men's trainers, but am size 8 so not really a problem with sizes
Walking and running shoes are quite different, and it might be that a light pair of walking boots might be more suitable so try a walking/ outdoors shop.0 -
You can get Brooks from Runners Need.0

Sketchers do wide fit trainers, I also have really wide feet and now have 4 pairs in various styles, I love them and can walk forever in them.

Saucony trainers are comfy on my wide feet! Worth a try on at your local sports shop before looking at more specialist suppliers - if you do find a comfy size/style, there are great Saucony bargains to pick up online .Reason for edit? Can spell, can't type!0

I find skater brands like DC tend to be very wide but they also tend to have supportive inserts built in so you might not get your inserts in them.If you always do what you have always done, you will always get what you always got!0
