According to the latest Satcure blog, since Crystal Palace boosted its digital output when it shut off analogue, a lot of people have been caught out because they are still using boosters. Try without the booster.

Alternatively, if you are desperate to buy yet another gadget, try a 20dB variable gain attenuator at the Freeview box aerial input. (Probably easier to reach than the booster.)

I think you must be referring to this

    Crystal Palace Problems

Since Crystal Palace transmitter switched off its analogue transmissions and increased the strength of its digital signals, many people have complained about a loss of programmes. In many cases the cause is their aerial amplifier or "booster" and it should be removed. (In some cases, simply fitting an attenuator near the Freeview aerial input will do, provided that you aren't so close to the transmitter that the booster is being overloaded or "blinded" by too strong a signal.) Some receivers simply need to have their memories cleared (factory reset or scan without an aerial connected) then rescan.

If your Freeview receiver was working fine before the change, there's absolutely no reason why it shouldn't work now EXCEPT, in some (rare) cases, the Freeview receiver is too old and incompatible with the current transmission standard. Search for the model number to see whether it's listed as being incompatible.

Some people have been conned into buying wideband Yagi aerials for Crystal palace. This is total WRONG as explained on THIS page
  • Another nice earner for the installers - all those oversized aerials and amplifiers now having to be removed due to overload issues!
