Good classic car brokers in my experience (just as important as the insurer):

    RH Classic
    A-Plan Thatcham
Frank Pickles (far and away the best kit car broker BTW)
    Graham Sykes
Peter D James (chap who sold Footman James to AON, since which Footman James fall into the category below)

    Avoid like the plague:

    Footman James
Sureterm (ridiculous fees - a couple of years back it was not unknown to be £70 for the pleasure of "arranging" your policy)
    Towergate

I did try to phone sureterm, about 20 minutes on hold, 0800 number though, so I left it on speakerphone. They were one of the cheapest, even if they overcharge on setting up fees (Must mean EIG is a giveaway) I always believe you do get what you pay for, but it can be tempting, they top three are half the price of the good ones.

Just checked, Frank Pickles don't insure under 21's, so they're out until my daughter is a bit older, but I've bookmarked them, thanks.

Well, I went to the darkside, and it's dark over here. I decided all I really wanted was the registration on askmid, and to be fair, that's about all they've done. Sureterm, less than £100, for the year. The car is nice, but at the end of the day it's a working runaround, not a concours classic that comes out for shows. I'd never make a claim myself, it wouldn't be worth having to declare it on all my other insurances, so I just wanted to be legal. To date, no paperwork at all, but supposedly sent twice. So no idea if the t&c's are different, no idea if they have my details right or wrong. Every call queues for at least 15 minutes. (But I have a freephone number) Emails from them said I was insured (eventually, first one said I wasn't, but the telesales said I was), no policy number until I phoned, and the insurer is based in Gibraltar. I suspect I may get them after the cooling off period at this rate, if I ever get them. If I didn't know what I was getting into, I'd be worried by now. Anything decent and I'd go with Raskazz' Frank Pickles.

And I finally have a copy, three sent alledgedly. No policy booklet. And it arrived after the 14 day cooling off period.
