Unwanted Text Messages?

Hi

Over the last day, my ex has sent me a number of menacing text messages.

Background is he got aggressive with me, was subsequently arrested, bailed pending further enquiries, one bail condition was only to contact me by text concerning the health and welfare of our daughter.

Yesterday he started accusing me of stealing money from him, I ignored his texts, it went to about 4-5 texts before he got the message I was ignoring him.

Then he emailed me, which I ignored but ignoring him seems to be adding fuel to his grievances & subsequently he's texted me 3 times today saying he has rights to know how our daughter is.

I don't want to communicate with him via text.

I have reported him to the police, obviously there is potentially a bail breach, but as yet nothing from them.

Is my provider (O2) able to block incoming texts from him with a crime number? I've already had a free number change from them in Jan because some weirdo kept ringing and asking for drink but became a nuisance!

Get a new pay and go number and give it to people you are friends with - O2 can't block texts.
Keep the old number to let your ex text you. Keep reporting to police if its continuous harassment - if the incoming texts are not about your daughter.

as i remember if you have a nuisance calls number change (on pay and go anyway) you arent supposed to have another one within 12 months but in the circumstances i think keeping the existing number could work in your favour if done right.

put the number in an old (working) phone, let him think the number works and is recieving calls and texts, let the evidence stack up. in the meantime get a new sim for your normal phone, vet carefully who has it and live your life, if the police want evidence of what he has done there will be an inbox full of it
Who remembers when X Factor was just Roman suncream?
  • Depends what phone you have. Some phones like Blackberry you can download an App to block unwanted texts. However you may need to keep them for evidence.

Samsung phones can block specific numbers. Can't remember how to do it, a quick google for a manual for your phone model should do it though. Assuming you have a Samsung!
