Las Vegas for 40th Birthday

A gang of my freinds who are fast approaching 40 have decided to spend it in Vegas for a long weekend in October.
Can anyone suggest hotels that would fit the bill and also what we could do whilst there?
To bear in mind:...
All away without wives/children
Fairly affluent, but I wouldnt say money no object
On for doing (almost anything) for a time to remember.
I'm tasked with organising it for around 15 of us.
Thanks,
J

Hello jasons
I'll move your thread to the 'Travel, Trips & Holidays' board.
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. this list of requirements is very broad so plenty of choice on the strip
on price i would rule out
Stratosphere
Circus Circus
Riveria
Sahara
Excalibur
Imperial Palace
For Full on Vegas experiance scratch
Ballys
Hilton
Rio
Palms ( last 2 on location only )
Harrahs
All away without wives/children. ?????
you and a few 1000 others :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
a few more Likes / dislikes + wants/ don't wants might be able to narrow search futher. or ask about a particuliar casino;) but
MIRAGE and CEASERS PALACE will probably be very high on any final listBetter in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:0 -
Well,..
Drinking, poker and as a contingent work for the police service (armed) we would like to get some shooting in.
Have looked at staying at the Bellagio, but just want to know what we can do there...
Its just a good excuse to go out and mark a landmark birthday with most of the friends I known for about 30+ years.

You need to be a bit more specific about budget0

Flights + Accom for about £700-£800
As I said, the Bellagio is within this price range, so was looking more towards things to do/ best things to do!0 -
Great minds and all that, it's my 40th too in November and my wife and I are also going to Vegas !! We got married there 6 years ago, and wanted to go back on our own !!
We've booked The Venetian with direct flights from Manchester - £1500 for 4 nights (we must be mad) but as every room in that hotel is a suite it does bump up the price. OH really wants to stay there or else we would have got it cheaper !!
If you've never been its a great place, but its best if you have no kids with you, we took ours when we got married and it's not really child friendly0 -
If you are just on a lads holiday stick to the centre of the Strip. (Balley,s Harrahs, Alladin, Mirage,) Good price deals at Balleys just now and lots going on. Bellagio is a bit posh and pricey and a large group of guys may be a bit iffy there. I just got back last week. Also some really inexpensive deals Downtown. Lots going on there.

Sounds exactly like the trip me and my mates just booked.....4 nights, Mirage, flying Virgin, in November (cheapest month), booked thru Virgin Holidays (10% Flying Club discount).
How about flight/helicopter trip to the Grand Canyon for starters? Or the Mario Andretti racing school? Any Trekkies among you...try the Star Trek experience.illegitimi non carborundum0 -
For a lads night out i'd recommend Cheetahs (strip club), L'il darlin's (same). A good bar off the strip is the crown and anchor (ask a taxi driver to take u there). it's a brit pub showing sports. A good blues club with live music(you can even get up and have a go yourself if you can play) is the Sand Dollar lounge, it's a no frills bar with a good atmosphere. As a previous poster mentioned, the Big Shot on top of the Stratoshpere is a great laugh. The piano bar in New York New York is very good. Then ther's the usual Grand Canyon trips and Hoover Dam, both woth a visit.
Enjoy!!!0
