OS Saturday 28th April

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 28th April. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning chums I'm all packed and raring to go now .I am hoping for if not warm weather then at least a bit dryer than this week.I am really looking forward to a nice break although I will miss my little grandsons.
Huge box of food and my cooler box is in the car so I shall be away by 7.00 as I have to pick my pal up in Dartford before we get on the road.I google-earthed where we're staying in Dorset batcombe and it looks fairly rural so its going to be a nice peaceful break(hopefully)I hope you all have a good week and those who feel a bit poorly get better, and sad a bit happier.
Take care everyone as General McArthur said famously 'I shall return':D:D:D

Cheers chums JackieO xxx

Morning Jackie & all who follow
I'm just about to start breakfast & then drop hubby at work, I shall then pop to Lidl's to get some juice for a freinds son, have a quick rummage through a CS & then home to housework & sewing.
Molly, I hope you are ok.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

    Morning everyone

It's NOT raining this morning - woohoo! :D Feels like it's been raining forever here, rivers chock-full, everyone's gardens very green (or flooded!), but we've got a bit of sun for a change today.

DS2 dropped at work, DH on his way, kids and I need to do local food shopping, wrap present and sort DS3 for party this afternoon, then I'm off to work from 11 until 5, so not a lot of OS going on here. Haven't planted spuds and onions as it's been so wet, hoping that tomorrow is ok so I can get them in the ground.

Have a good day, hope to pop back later on. Hugs and kisses to whoever needs 'em. :D

    Morning everyone

Love and hugs to those that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x

Dark, windy and overcast here but not raining, and for once rain is not forecast all day - we shall see!! DH and I are up drinking a cuppa as he's got a caravan meeting to go to and it's over an hour and a half's drive - nice quiet day for me though! hehe!!

Was reasonably productive yesterday, got virtually all the washing done, I'm going to put our bedding out on the line shortly, hoping the wind will dry it before it rains - feel sure we won't escape rain free today. Today will be a chill day but I do have several jobs I want to get done, need to tackle the ironing mountain, boys have asked if they may have HM pizza for lunch - not difficult - so will be doing that. I'll be having my usual salad etc. Want to make some pavlovas today as bought cream and strawberries when doing the food shopping yesterday, they will be dessert today or tomorrow. I picked up a half leg of lamb for Sunday roast, really fancied a rib of beef but the butcher hadn't got any so had the lamb instead, really like doing a "proper" roast on a Sunday but the meat is getting so expensive - always find I'm having to stretch the meat to make it more financially viable. After this weekend we're away quite a lot of weekends, and I don't cook a proper roast in the caravan as it uses too much gas, so we cook and eat well but a different kind of food. Did my usual baking yesterday but made chocolate brownies, coconut tarts, mince pies and fruit scones - will keep the menfolk quiet for a while at least!

MrS delivered my shopping, and as always I'm pleased with the quality of what they pick and send - it's better than the other on-line shops I've tried but prices are a little more.
Have rejoined the grocery challenge as need to get a grip on the spends, will be having my work cut out I think this month, as we have a birthday in the house this week and then DH and I are off to London for another caravan meeting and I'm hosting a dinner for another couple as last time we went they cooked for us - so I'm returning the hospitality - think I'm going to do a side of salmon, new pots and salad/veg, also chicken wrapped in bacon as another choice, will then make pavlovas to take with us and possibly make a cheesecake or profiteroles/choux buns - really need dessert to be something I can make and take with us and then assemble in the caravan as working space is limited. Will then have cheese, biscuits and bottle of port etc, few bottles of wine - job done! Thinking of food, need to organise what's on the menu for dinner tonight - will organise this later.

It is now raining, think I should have had a bet on that!

Need to get a shower, brekkie and get to the SM before it gets busy, need to pick up some alcohol they have an offer, will be good stores for later!

Hugs to those that want/need them, keep safe and well x

    Morning all

    JackieO - have a nice trip x

I have no plans for the day today. I may have look and see if there are any jumble sales or fetes on and go for a wander. Other than that I may just curl up with my kindle :) I am off out to the cinema tonight to go see Avengers Assemble, looking forward and the reviews are good for it. My friend gets cheap tickets through her work so it's not too expensive.

OS wise - I may brave a load in the WM, will have to dry it all inside though. General tidy up needed, dishes to wash. Also have a load of paperwork to sort through so may tackle that.

Have a great day all :D

    Morning All. :)

Bright and sunny here today, it has invigorated me this morning, I am full of the cold and hadn't been looking forward to getting up until I saw it. OH and DS1 are away to the wee chap's football match, and DS2 and I are here, lots of housework and washing to do, grass to cut and living room ceiling to paint today. DS1 is off to a sleepover tonight, and I promised some cookies to take, so need to get that done too.

Hugs for all in need, ADELIGHT I understNd you're having a sad time just now, special hug for you, pet

    Take care all of you.

    Morning all,

Rain here again :(, fed up with it now, my garden is water logged, and I cant get out there at all.

OH gone to the boot sale, not sure there will be much of one on in this weather, but he is a die hard booter, and it gives me some peace :D

DD still in bed, will leave her till 9.30, she has had a busy week, we were both so tired last night we were in bed by 10 ish and I slept like a log, I am sure she has too.

Omlette and wedges for dinner tonight, either OH or dd can cook, its my night off :D.

Got most of my housework done yesterday, so just a quick tidy through and hoover upstairs, got a wash on, but airers are full, so will have to drape it around and hope it dries.

Adelight, hugs to you, hope your nan is ok xx

Hester, what a lovely girl your dd is, :A, bless her xx

    Morning :hello:

Wet and dreary here. I skidded down to the chicken shed, let the girls out, cleaned the shed, then skidded back up to the house :D We're water-logged too, I'm itching to get onto the veg patch but can't.

I've sorted out the drawers in the bedroom, all neat and tidy now. Mr tru is under strict instructions to keep them that way - he usually opens a drawer, flings things in then slams it shut. He has a shed for that, no need for it in [STRIKE]my[/STRIKE] the house too.

I'll empty the kitchen drawers today and give them a good sort out. Today is going to be very boring :D

    Morning All
Persisting down here again today :( I am now totally fed up with washing lying around the house and am really tempted to be non OS and go and buy a Tumble Dryer today :o.

tru I know what you mean about men just chucking tools in drawers, I can go to any room in my house and find one of DH's I might need that later's :mad:He built a huge shed and it gets my goat when he still has three cupboards full of tools in the house, i don't mind him keeping the expensive tools in the house, but jars of screws, nails, hammers etc can all go in his shed not the house
DH has gone off to work and I have no idea what time he will be home.....the roofers are in, good weather to do a roof eh :(
DH wants me to do his favourite mushroom soup for lunch with some HM bread so the dough is proving as we speak.
DS made a lovely cake yesterday and wants me to teach him to make twinks and shortbread today. I would have shown him how to make bread, because he has hands like shovels and would be brilliant at kneading ;) but alas he is a teenager and is still in his pit so I had to make do with the Kenwood :rotfl:
Sadly my BM died last week from overuse, so I will have to save for a panasonic now what a decision TD or Panny  Well I actually do need a TD and the Kenwood makes a good dough so the Panny will have to take a back seat :(

((((((((Hugs)))))))) to all the poorlies or those just in need of one.

  • Hi Guys!

Am a lot calmer after yesterdays worries. OH has had to use the bus today for errands that needed doing and things will take longer. Hopefully the seller will sort the mess out and give us our money back as we have a lot of evidence against him now.

Anyway, the nurses have been and I have another bed sore starting, so they want me to go back on antibiotics. Life just gets better:rotfl:Ive been given an extra shot of morphine, so feeling a lot more relaxed but still very tired.

The DW and WM are both on and as its raining, it'll go in the TD. Dinner tonight is steak, hm chips and corn on cob. DD is away this weekend, so quiet here.

Anyway, hope you're all well and have a great holiday Jackie0.
