  • It's months rather than weeks, it's been longer for some people. My last one took just shy of 6 months - I thought it would be longer. Apart from the fact the FOS are inundated with complaints, the length of time also depends on the complexity of the complaint and the behaviour of the bank. Once your complaint reaches the top of the pile and is allocated to an FOS adjudicator they then have to contact the bank and request information. The banks are also bogged down with complaints so are moving at a snail's pace which can slow things down. The FOS are generally very good at remaining in contact though and you will receive regular letters from them letting you know what stage they're at adn they may need additional information from you too. If you get lucky the bank may actually offer to settle early in the process rather than let the complaint go on longer. After a complaint is upheld by the FOS there is an additional wait for the actual offer and refund to come through from the bank which could be quite a few weeks more - but if you don't owe anything on the cards, the 8% interest will keep building up the whole time.
  • as usual misleading

submitting a claim is only part of the process representation provides
and obviously if a person makes a mistake v a company who doesnt the claim is less likely to succeed, again if a bank sends an unfair offer and the consumer blindly accepts whereas a CMC would be aware, if that is the situation, is that a breach of any rules to say lol. Get back to your rulebook and sunday refereeing you'll have to try harder than that

    have a good weekend

So what happens when a person doesn't make a mistake Vs a company which does?
