I'm not convinced that all of these doctors have real qualifications to practice.
Just how much can we trust 'qualifications' gained in foreign countries where bribery and corruption is the order of the day?
I'm pretty certain that you can, if you have enough money, buy your qualification, then turn up in the UK to work.0 -

the corrupting aspect of blame and compensation means organisations will avoid appearing to be at fault.
this makes openly establishing better guidelines or better practice more difficult.[/QUOTE
And this is exactly where is all goes wrong. Everything from NHS to Tesco's & M&S. As soon as you enter a human element of risk there will always be mistakes. Even with best practice.
The problem is that in today's society no-one is allowed to make mistakes as this would mean admitting liability and so no -one is ever allowed to say sorry.Happiness, Health and Wealth in that order please!:A0 -

Before looking askance at "foreigners", you might want to keep a wary eye on our own home-grown incompetents.
If we really wanted top-class doctors, and nurses, we would do well to renumerate them sufficiently for them to want to remain in nursing and medicine, here in good old England, rather than getting trained then jetting off to sunny Florida.
We then wouldn't feel the need to "bribe" thai and indian nurses into the UK to do the crappy jobs british-born nurses turn their noses up at.
Ironic, since this site is all about getting everything for cheapest price.
I think it was Oscar Wilde who upon someones shallowness remarked "He knows the price of everything, and the value of nothing."
This is my last post on this thread. My BS-filter wasn't working the day I first posted, otherwise I would have stopped reading after

But the real problem is the fact that so many people in this country who are under-educated hold all medical professionals, and in particular doctors in such high regard. They are just people like every one else albit very good at regurgitating heap loads of information during exams, some even have above average intelligence.
Yes doctors/nurses have a tough time of it with NHS cutbacks etc and in my book the only public servants who deserve a pay rise and gold plated final salary pension
BUT....
Always question what is being said and seek a second opinion through a drop in center.
This advice comes from a family friend who is one of the most senior GP's in the country running a large practice dealing with hundreds of patients a day0
