Hi
My partner and I with our 2 year old girl are looking for a 2 week holiday in the sun early july.
Idealy only a shortish flight.
Tunisia is roughly 3 hours away.
Heard hit and miss stories from friends and family !??!
What are your experiences ???
Any other countries or resorts for us to consider ???
Sunny blue skies a must !!!!!!
Thanks

Personally I did not like Tunisia, I felt quite confined to the hotel and official excursions, and I like to get out and about. Others absolutely love it.
I am a great Turkey fan, lovely and warm, lots of facilities for the wee ones and 3 and a half hours flight.0 -
I didn't like it either, for the same reason as gibson. You're pretty much confined to the hotel and the others along your stretch of beach.
For me that defeats the object of going abroad, I like to go to countries where it's comfortable and safe to explore the area, not just the hotel complex. Other people love it though, so I guess it depends on your particular wants and needs from a country.
I also found the food hygiene to be questionable. I've been twice and both times several members of our party have been ill.
For holidays with young children IMO you can't beat Italy, they adore them.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
What about Spain? Costa Dorada is under 2 hours by plane and the other Costas not much more. At that time of the year you would have to be very unlucky to get bad weather.
Have a look at the H10 Mediterranean Village in Cap Salou, great family hotel.:beer:0 -
I can't understand that comment at all. We stayed at a hotel in Sousse; it was easy to walk around; taxis are dirt cheap, as are trains if you want to travel a bit further.Personally I did not like Tunisia, I felt quite confined to the hotel and official excursions, and I like to get out and about. We travelled with a 3 year old and enjoyed Tunisia very much.
We've also stayed in Turkey and enjoyed that as well, but Tunisia is (generally) cheaper mainly because the flights are less far.0 -
i will second the above post.
i travelled alone twice to tunisia and had no problem walking or travelling about - i stayed in port el kantoui both times but have travelled around the country.
i went on a 4-day safari too, exploring some great places.
food always fantastic. i went in april and october and both times hit 30C - July WILL be hot.
Maderia is another option.0 -
Haha we are going to Tunisia in July for our second visit, hopefully that volcano won't go up again!!
We went to Turkey last year and I came back very ill - so a bit pot luck really.
Just be careful with the heat though, it's very easy to get sunstroke without realising it.

Tunisia is great, we've been a lot, it's a bit more adventurous than your usuall Med destination, however the chance of being a victim of serious crime is very low, in fact no more likely than Spain, there are people that will be ready to rip off or rob tourists in all Med destinations and the advice on keeping your money and valuables secure is no different to european med destinations. On the whole Tunisian people are very friendly and it is very safe to use public transport, Taxi drivers can be lunatic drivers but that's no different to anywhere else, in fact the scariest taxi ride I've ever had was in Cyprus.I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world0

I'm another one who hated it as I was harrassed constantly - but I travelled without a male comapnion, so you may find it different.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

That's the problem, a lot of eupropean women especialy those that are middle aged + used to and still do go there to basically get off with young Tunisian men, also I've seen lots of flirty young 18-20 year old girls that seem to go out of their way to get off with some good looking Tunisian men, same goes for single males, the first time I went there was in 1989 and I went on my own, I did get propositioned a few times by Tunisian men.I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world0 -

That might be because your hotel was a little way out, some are a taxi ride from town, however, if you stayed in Sousse, then there was absolutly no reason why you should be confined to the hotel, the place is buzzing right into the early hours.I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world0
