  • I'm also not a fruit cake fan! So I had two tiers of pure fudge!!

I had it on a proper cake stand, anyone in the south lincolnshire area i can recommend "stands out" at Thorney, they're on facebook. The top tier was vanilla marbled with choc and the bottom was choc rocky road.

I even had a cake topper, which I made myself.

We "cut the cake" after the speeches and had it served as pudding with the evening meal.

Its your wedding, you do what you want. The guests won't know any different and from my experience querky hits the spot everytime. I had so many positive comments about the unique points of the day. And I LOVE cheesecake!!! :oD

I love this idea, where did you get the fudge from? Or did you make it?

I'm also having cupcakes which are doubling up as cake and dessert. Actually we have got mini cake stands for each table so maybe that should be tripling up as centrepieces too :money:

Haven't quite decided on the flavours yet but the place i'm getting them from is amazing - we can have anything from traditional vanilla with strawberries on the top, carrot cake, mint choc chip, cookies & cream, blueberry cheescake etc. Will probably choose 5 flavours and have 2 of each on each table, then leftovers and more for evening.
  • Hi all,

......Are any of you using your wedding cake as your dessert if you are having a 3 course meal? And would any of you be miffed if there wasn't any wedding cake passed round at some point?

Yes! partly to simplify things & partly to keep overall costs down. My lovely Mum offered to pay for Wedding Cake & I suggested we could split the cakes between afternoon & night time buffets and have them as dessert cakes with a jug of cream or similar

(we are a mixed couple, me Christian, him Hindu, 2nd time around for both - having traditional Church blessing & afternoon tea buffet then an Asian curry buffet at night with Sarees for the ladies!)
